Experiencing anxiety, depression, problems in relationships or some more elusive trouble that is difficult to name? There are many situations that prompt people to seek help when they encounter a problem in living and struggle to find a way through confusion and emotional suffering. Talking things trough helps. As a therapist, my primary concern is to create a warm and respectful relationship that would provide support as well as encourage you to express your feelings and reflect upon what is going on for you. Rather than being a neutral observer, I seek to involve myself in your effort to deal with your distress.

Life can be a real challenge and we all need help at some points. Maybe you know what you need help with at the moment- such as anxiety, being easily triggered, relationship issues or depression. You may have a clear idea of your issues and needs. However you may not even know what the issues are but just that you are not in a good state. In either case having a safe confidential space to talk about and work alongside someone with compassion can be life-changing. Are you ready for the journey?

I am an art psychotherapist based in Chiswick, West London, offering individual sessions for adults, adolescents and children, both in person and online. I aim to offer a warm, non-judgemental and supportive space where trust can develop and where we can work together at your pace with whatever you bring. Art psychotherapy is an evidence-based form of psychotherapy that supports self-exploration, emotional understanding and psychological healing. Alongside talking, art-making offers additional ways to express and explore feelings and experiences that may be difficult to put into words alone. No previous art experience is needed.

I'm Toyin, an experienced young persons counsellor who connects well with my clients. This good connection is what makes therapy work. So if the start of adult life is a struggle, or you're overwhelmed with anger, confusion, low mood or anxiety together we can work through these difficult thoughts and feelings in a way that will help empower you. If you are feeling stuck due to a recent bereavement, loss or trauma I can help make sense of such experiences. If you are beginning your career, in higher education, on an apprenticeship scheme, or an adolescent in college who is struggling, I warmly welcome you into my therapy room.

Hello, I work with individuals and couples towards a more relational, intimate and fulfilling life. I believe that much of our suffering stems from how we relate to ourselves and to others. I work with relationship blocks, difficulties, and patterns. I help my clients navigate and process life transitions such as breakups, divorce, and challenging relationships; not only with romantic partners but also with family and work relationships. I take relationship struggles seriously, as they can lead to anxiety, depression and overall difficulties with emotional regulation.

Perhaps you cannot think clearly and compassionately about yourself, or struggle to find your voice.

This time can feel very fragile both individually and collectively which is hard on most of us. How do we navigate our way through the uncertainty and recognise that in this everchanging and fast paced world we can make our way towards our own sense of certainty? During these moments it can be helpful to have someone to walk alongside you. To listen and tune into what you need and want to say. To be heard by another so that ultimately you can hear yourself. Should you need this support I would be honoured to walk a while with you.

Hi, I'm Annie. I'm a BACP accredited therapist, and alongside my private practice I’m also a secondary school counsellor with over a decade of experience working in schools. I currently work with adults and young people aged 11+, and I have a particular passion for supporting teenagers and young adults – this is such a rich and often messy time of life, when there can be so much to think about with school and university, relationships, identity and future plans, and when having a space to explore all of this with another person can be really helpful.

It can be daunting to find a therapist you can trust for help with your emotional and psychological difficulties. Often our suffering is concealed from friends, family or colleagues because we are good at hiding it but deep inside, we are left feeling far from happy, fulfilled or content. I am passionate about helping people live better lives. I believe in creating a trusting therapeutic relationship where people can safely discuss their difficulties without fear of criticism or shame. I help them discover what matters to them and how they would like to show up in the world through healing and reconnecting with their strengths.

I work with adults and couples who are suffering from depression, anxiety and grief caused by relationship loss. When a relationship breaks down, or keeping a relationship is difficult, or someone dies, we lose a part of ourselves. We feel lost and we have a diminished sense of self. Working together we can understand the process of grief, work through the stages, work on regaining strength and self-identity towards a place of happiness. My personal and professional understanding of grief allows me to hold space for my clients in a way that feels authentic and safe. I can sit with ambiguity and pain knowing that there is hope.

If you are struggling with feeling overwhelmed, unhappy, anxious or depressed, therapy may be able to help. Psychodynamic Psychotherapy attempts to understand how early relationships and patterns of behaviour can affect and lead to difficulties later in life. Perhaps an immediate crisis or longer term feelings of unhappiness have brought you here; both are valid and may benefit from therapy. I can offer a calm, confidential and supportive space to help you try and understand why you are feeling a certain way, and together we can work to resolve any deeper issues.

Maybe a particular event, crisis, or relationship has brought you here. Maybe you don't have a clear reason but feel frustrated or despondent or sense that something is 'off'. Whether you feel your difficulties are specific or vague, together we can look at what brings you to therapy and what needs to change so that life is more manageable and enjoyable. My style is warm, engaging - I am not a 'blank screen' therapist. Alongside general practice, I specialise in supporting clients who work in the creative industries.

I offer a free 15 minute phone call before meeting. This gives you an opportunity to outline your current circumstances and enables me to consider if I might be able to help you. Your first session will be an assessment where I will ask questions to better understand your past, your present and your expectations. This session is a two-way process for both you and I to consider if we might be able to work together. Any ongoing therapy will last 50 minutes and would typically take place on a weekly basis. I can work in an open ended way or time limited if you would prefer a shorter period. We would then work in a more focussed way

FAQ - Therapist Gender
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
