You might be struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, shame or family/relational issues or any number of things. Any immediate difficulties you are facing we will focus on first, possibly using CBT methods to support you, help you cope, and facilitate change. The therapeutic relationship we will have is at the core of our sessions allowing you to feel heard, understood and hopeful again. Once you are feeling ready, we can journey through more of what feels important to you, going at your own pace or challenging life aspects here and there if you feel that is what you need. We can set goals or just use this space to unpack.

The counselling relationship is at the heart of my work, therefore my focus is to create a warm, trusting and safe environment. Together we can explore what is happening for you and begin working through the process, avoiding judgement or dismissal. Perhaps you are experiencing anxiety, depression, low mood, low self esteem, abuse or need to process grief, difficult/overwhelming feelings, relationship issues. Maybe you would like to make some life changes and need to gain some clarity and confidence in what you are doing and where you are going. Whatever has led you to this point, I’m here to do the journey with you.

Do you find yourself overthinking conversations, worrying about how you’re perceived, or feeling responsible for holding relationships together? You may appear capable on the outside, yet inside feel anxious, self-critical, or not quite enough. Difficulties in relationships and anxiety often reflect patterns formed earlier in life. Ways of coping that once felt necessary can later become exhausting or limiting.

I’m drawn to the quiet, tender spaces in people’s lives; places shaped by grief, loss & life transitions, and the feeling of being unseen or unanchored. Life has many seasons of change; moments that leave you feeling overwhelmed, unsteady, or unsure where to turn. You may be navigating bereavement, the end of a relationship, health challenges, or shifts in identity. Some experiences echo from the past; others arrive quietly as stress, sadness, guilt, anxiety, or a sense of inner hurt. I welcome anyone seeking space to reflect, heal, grow, or simply breathe again.

You might be someone who feels stuck in patterns of self-doubt, overwhelm, or disconnection from who you are. Perhaps struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, or life transitions. Maybe you’re an adolescent trying to make sense of life's growing pressures and emotions. You want to feel seen, understood, rebuild confidence and self-compassion, and create lasting inner strength. You may be navigating life before, during or after bariatric surgery or major weight loss, facing weight stigma, or exploring your relationship with food and self-worth. Each stage brings unique challenges and emotions.

Hello I’m Jeni. As an experienced Dramatherapist I have found that when things are too hard to talk about initially, creativity can help us to express and process and then release what no longer serves us. My private practice allows me to work online with adults, and young people, and in a Primary school with a specialist speech and language unit. I have also worked in numerous Secondary schools. I have experience in working with anxiety, low self esteem, pre and post bereavement, fostering and adoption (life story work) neurodiversity and survivors of sexual assault

I offer both psychodynamic and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, which complement each other so well. Psychodynamic counselling primarily allows for deep dives into your experiences both past and present, as the therapeutic relationship brings awareness of your unconscious self in a manageable way. ACT then builds upon this with much more active interventions, and these can guide you on the path to leading a life that is meaningful for you whilst also learning to embrace its inevitable pain. ACT teaches us that, through mindful action rooted in our core values, we can effectively navigate life's challenges and unwanted experiences.

Sometimes life's challenges can feel like too much deal with on your own. From anxiety, depression, and low mood to the demands of work, parenting, and changing relationships. You aren't alone. For lots of people these things come with feelings of being lost, stuck, or overwhelmed. For others it can feel like people don’t really understand you or what you’re going through or that you don't fit in. I work with adults navigating these transitions or searching for a deeper sense of meaning and identity, including exploring neurodiversity and sexuality. I offer an inclusive and affirming space for LGBTQ+ and ND clients.

Hello, are you feeling low? experiencing anxiety? dealing with a loss or bereavement? Maybe you are struggling with emotional issues from the past that are intruding in your current life? At times we can find life difficult and struggle to make sense of it. Overcoming our problems on our own or talking with people we are closest to can be hard so speaking confidentially to a counsellor may be what you are looking for. Talking helps you to explore your thoughts and feelings so you can get a clearer view of your life. I will listen without judgement to how it feels to be you so you can discover what really matters to you.

You might be looking to feel calmer, to navigate a major change or loss, to better express your needs or to change outgrown habits and patterns. Counselling can help you identify your beliefs about yourself and others, and how those inform how you navigate life currently and how you want to navigate it in the future.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are members of the main professional associations, mainly the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). Most Psychologists in the directory are accredited members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and/or are registered in the Health and Care Professions Council (HPCP).

Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given that professional memberships are not a statutory requirement for psychotherapists and counsellors in the UK, certain qualified professionals or organisations may choose not to maintain such memberships despite possessing the necessary qualifications. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and experience that enable them to do so in the UK. Psychologists have earned a degree in psychology and many are members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and have completed a postgraduate qualification in a specialism. Counsellors and Psychotherapists are not required to have a psychology degree, but to belong to a professional organisation such as the BACP or UKCP, they are required to have completed a training course as well as clinical and supervision hours.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the UK could be between £30 - £60 when seeing a counsellor and £60 - £150 and up when seeing a clinical psychologist. If you have private insurance, your plan may cover some if not all of your sessions. You should contact your insurance provider to determine if they provide coverage for therapy sessions and to determine what, if any, requirements they might have in order for your sessions to be covered, such as a referral from your GP or medical specialist.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. The NHS Talking therapies programme offers free of charge counselling for common mental health problems like anxiety and depression. The service is available to anyone registered with a GP, though you do not necessarily need to be referred by your GP and can refer yourself directly to a Talking therapies service. The service will provide different solutions, including group and individual therapy, for a limited number of sessions which are generally up to six.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Therapists who are part of a professional organisation such as the BACP, the UKCP, or BPS are bound by an ethical framework that requires them to uphold a confidentiality agreement. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there has been participation in a criminal act or act of terror, or if there is potential or known harm to the client or others, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
