Psychotherapy: Making the decision to come to therapy/counselling can be difficult and sometimes anxiety provoking, and finding someone who you feel comfortable with can be a positive and reassuring start. I offer an initial, no commitment 30 minute session where we can begin to get to know each other, and begin to look at what you would to focus on in the work that we may do together. Part of the first session will include an outline of how I work, what to expect, discussing a working agreement which covers confidentiality etc, but it is mainly an opportunity to talk and be heard in a respectful, non-judgmental space.

I believe listening empathetically to your specific individual experiences and thoughts, enables a deeper understanding of why you may be feeling depressed, anxious, lonely and lack direction or purpose in your life. If you have experienced the trauma of abuse or neglect, you may be feeling isolated from others and carry a sense of shame about who you are. I have fifteen years of experience creating individualised approaches centred around the individual needs of people who are experiencing psychological difficulties.

Hello my name is Linda, I am an experienced psychotherapist, supervisor and trainer. I am currently accepting short and long term client work and supervision clients, to work online and in person.   I work individually, with couples or pairs, or in small groups.  I also supervise those that offer supervision to others.  I believe relationship is key to successful therapy and supervision because it allows trust, respect and mutuality to build which results in having an open, safe space in which to work. Sometimes having the opportunity to talk with someone impartial and independent is essential.

Life can be daunting and can give us painful experiences that stay with us. As humans this is sometimes too much for us to bear alone. Reaching out is the first step in working through the things that are making you feel stuck. I provide a space where you can safely explore things that are troubling you, whether these are in your day-to-day life or have been with you for a long time. When things go wrong painful feelings and memories can emerge that can make us feel anxious, depressed, isolated and hopeless. Psychotherapy can help you make sense of these feelings and help you find a more solid sense of yourself.

People seek therapy for many different reasons. It can be somewhere to pause and reflect, make sense of experiences, navigate change, deepen self-understanding, develop new perspectives, or explore patterns in relationships. Some want to clarify their values, strengthen boundaries, heal from past experiences, or cultivate healthier relationships in their lives. Therapy offers time and space for reflection, exploration, and personal growth around issues such as anxiety, loss, trauma, attachment, identity and more, at a pace that feels manageable for you.

Hello, I am Amy. I am an integrative therapist which means I adapt my style of therapy dependent on your needs, pace and how you prefer to work. I provide short-term and long-term therapy to adults and young people (11+). In my practice, I am committed to making sure the therapeutic journey is an authentic and collaborative process for the individual, with your preferences at the centre of the journey. Sometimes, expressing thoughts and feeling can be difficult or we just simply 'do not know' how we are feeling, together we can figure that out. Therapy is not just talking, it a process of understanding yourself and your needs.

I’m Olivia, a Level 7 therapist working with adults and young people. My approach is integrative and highly individualised, focusing on you as a whole person- your experiences, strengths, challenges and the meaning you make of them- rather than applying a one-size-fits-all model. Hello, my name is Lisa . I am an experienced Private Psychotherapist who has previously practiced in the NHS. Many of the clients I see are not able to pinpoint what is wrong but know they feel confused and unhappy without understanding why. However you are feeling just now, things can change in time with the right support. Talking to a psychotherapist who is trained to help you make some sense of what is concerning you is the first step towards feeling better. The most important thing is for you to feel safe and comfortable with whoever you choose. This trust will encourage you to explore your thoughts and feelings more freely.

Anger Management Counsellors
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
