Transpersonal Counselling in Lewes
I am open to working with various issues including existential or transpersonal (spiritual / faith) issues.
There are many reasons you may be seeking counselling but I imagine you are wanting something to change. Counselling is not only about what we think of ourselves and our life but more importantly, our felt sense of ourselves our visceral experience of life and our inner experience. Giving space and awareness to our experience is what informs us of what is needed for healing, growth and change. My aim is to facilitate a relationship that is tailored to you and created with you. This provides the conditions for you to freely and safely explore the challenges you may face as well as the trauma or difficulties you have experienced.

From time to time everyone experiences stress, sadness, anger, relational conflict and grief which we often suffer alone. Accepting help from others can be difficult but maybe you feel you’ve toughing it out on your own for too long.
Whether you are struggling with an identifiable trauma or you’ve reached a point where recurring feelings are becoming unmanageable; a course of psychotherapeutic counselling may help you make sense of what is happening and enable you to gain and maintain some stability. Feelings of fear, anger, rejection and lack of confidence are difficult areas and discussing them with friends too raw and personal.

My ideal client would be someone who already knows themselves a little, has possibly been in therapy before, so understands the path ahead. Someone who is emotionally intelligent and truth seeking; perhaps someone who seeks a deeper understanding of themselves, their context and their relationships.

I often bring in transpersonal or a spiritual dimension and am trained in an integrative approach which means I may bring in different elements from other modalities such as creative writing, free-drawing, jungian shadow work, dream analysis and breath work.
I'm Sarah. I offer Online and in-person Therapy and Executive Coaching and am founder of Soul Writing coaching. I believe change is possible.
We may use meditation and inner transformation work which calms your nervous system and decreases anxiety, for clients open to this way of working.
After a brain injury in 2004 I developed my own approach to using creative writing, storytelling work, breath work and somatic work to calm the nervous system.
By re-imagining the stories which shape and drive your life, change is possible. I call this approach Soul Writing Coaching - you can find out more on my website.

Do you feel stuck, disconnected from yourself, or as though something important is missing in your life — even if, on the surface, things seem “fine”? You might be struggling with anxiety, self-doubt, or a sense of being lost, unsure who you really are or what you want in life.
I specialise in working with people who want more than just coping strategies — people who are interested in understanding themselves more deeply, making sense of their inner world, and finding greater meaning, authenticity and direction in their lives.

You may be considering counselling or therapy for one or a number or reasons. At any time in our life we can be required to face unwanted challenges as life's inevitable ups and downs get the better of us. This can be due to an unexpected change in circumstances or it may be that life itself is demanding too much right now and you are struggling to cope. It may be that everything in your life is going according to plan and yet, still, there is a deeper sense that something is missing. Talking to friends and relatives provides only temporary relief and you are wondering if speaking to a therapist might be helpful.

Hi, I'm Duncan, a UKCP accredited psychotherapist. Life can get heavy sometimes. Old patterns, big feelings, difficult relationships. It can all
build up, often quietly, until it's too much to manage alone.
I help people understand what might really be happening underneath the surface, and find a steadier way forward. No judgement, no jargon, just space to figure things out at your own pace.

My ideal clients are executives, senior professionals and high achievers who have become so focused on performing well for others that they've lost touch with what they need for themselves. They are often intelligent, self-aware and highly capable — yet find themselves stuck, depleted or quietly anxious in ways they can't easily explain to the people around them.
They may be managing teams, navigating high-stakes decisions, or sustaining a demanding lifestyle — while privately wondering how long they can keep going at this pace. The drive that once made them effective has quietly eroded the things that sustain them: relationships, i

I am an experienced, welcoming and open-minded counsellor. Exploring in-depth what is troubling us with someone who is really listening, not just to your words but to the person behind them, can in itself be a healing process. It may also bring to light beliefs and ways of living that are holding you back. I draw on a range of integrative talking therapies (including Internal Family Systems). When something more is needed than talking alone, Brainspotting (a somatic therapy that evolved out of EMDR) can offer a gentle but powerful way to access deeper areas of the brain where emotional difficulties arise.

My training in Transpersonal counselling is integrative and so uses a range of approaches.
I offer a warm, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly and feel supported as we explore the difficulties you're facing. You may feel anxious, overwhelmed, low, or not sure where to begin — and that’s completely okay. You don’t need to have everything figured out. We can explore whatever you’re bringing gently, safely, and at your pace.
You are invited to bring all parts of yourself — even those that may feel messy, difficult or hidden. You are welcome to express what may feel unsayable or unthinkable to you. Together, we’ll explore the experiences, patterns, and beliefs that shape your life.

Transpersonal Counsellors
How does transpersonal therapy work?
Transpersonal therapy focuses on a patient’s spirituality and meaning in life. Transpersonal therapists might borrow from Eastern traditions as well as Western psychology. They may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualisation, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork to produce altered states of consciousness. The therapist helps the patient to access their consciousness and spirituality to work through difficult mental states.
How long does transpersonal therapy last?
Because the goal is to understand a person as a whole, including their spirituality, treatment can range from months to a year or beyond. While patients learn the philosophy behind transpersonal therapy during treatment, they can also practice its principles throughout life after therapy sessions have ended.
Is transpersonal therapy effective?
Patients have found success with transpersonal therapy; this method is useful in improving anxiety, depression, self-esteem, identity, fears, relationship problems, and other concerns. Improvements in problem areas can continue even after transpersonal therapy ends, as individuals can utilise the tools they’ve learned during treatment sessions.
What are the limitations of transpersonal therapy?
There is some research on the effectiveness of transpersonal therapy, but empirical support for this therapy approach is sparse. It does not have the robust evidence base of other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioural therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy.
