I understand how difficult life can be sometimes and that it is not always obvious what is wrong. We can experience challenging events or relationships and not know how to navigate them. Or we can just feel lost or left wondering who we really are and what we want from life.

As far as anyone can see, you’re holding it all together, but deep down, you’re struggling to manage the emotional aftermath of losing someone or something important in your life—a relationship, a job, or a loved one. You feel worried about the future and a deep sadness that life seems to carry on as if nothing has changed. The loneliness, exhaustion, and pain of dealing with these feelings alone are overwhelming. You wish to open up about how you’re truly feeling without fear of burdening others or causing concern for those close to you. You need a safe space to process, heal, and find the strength to adjust to your new reality.

Welcome to my profile. You may be here because you feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from what matters most. You might struggle with self-criticism, burnout, anxiety, or challenges in your daily roles and relationships. Often highly capable, you’re exhausted from meeting unrelenting inner standards. You’re seeking a supportive, compassionate space to explore unhelpful thoughts, feelings, and behaviours (aka our tricky brain), and build courage to take compassionate, meaningful action.

Wading through life challenges and the pressures they bring can feel exhausting. You might be worrying about a big event or coming to terms with a loss, feeling anxious in certain situations or feeling low but are not sure why. The relationships around you may feel complicated and upsetting and it’s difficult to imagine where to go next. Talking with someone who really hears you can be the initial step you need to start exploring the obstacles that you face and support you through a journey towards positive change.

Do you feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure where to turn next? Are you carrying anxiety, low mood, grief, trauma, relationship or parenting struggles, or the weight of a life transition? Perhaps coping alone no longer feels possible. Whatever your background or life experience, do you long for clarity, relief, and somewhere you can talk openly and without judgement, in the strictest confidence? Above all, do you hope to understand yourself more deeply, change unhelpful patterns, and feel steadier, more grounded, more connected, and more in control of your emotional world?

You might feel like you're holding everything together while anxiety, overwhelm, or old patterns quietly run the show. Perhaps you lie awake replaying conversations, feeling guilty for not being "enough", or caught in cycles of self-criticism and people-pleasing. I offer integrative counselling and MAP coaching to help you understand why these patterns exist—not to fix them, but to work with them. Using IFS and person-centred therapy, we explore what drives your reactions and practice new responses. Together we work towards feeling more connected to yourself and able to set healthy boundaries.

You may be someone who has lived through domestic abuse and now carries the anxiety, confusion, or heaviness that trauma leaves behind. You’ve spent so long holding everything together, even when inside you feel tired, overwhelmed, or unsure how to begin again. You long for safety, clarity, and a steadier way of being. My work offers a calm, supportive space to understand your experiences, reconnect with your inner strength, and move toward a life that feels grounded, safe, and truly your own.

Do you feel overwhelmed by your feelings? Do they impact on your confidence and day-to-day life? Or perhaps you have experienced painful losses, abuse or traumatic events that are affecting you? Do you have patterns of behaviour that no longer feel beneficial to you? Sometimes we think and act in certain ways that function to protect and preserve us. These have felt necessary in the past, but are no longer useful and can instead impact negatively on our life.

You may be someone who manages a great deal — at work, in relationships, within your family — yet feel unsettled or quietly exhausted inside. Perhaps certain patterns keep repeating, or something in your life no longer feels sustainable, even if you struggle to put it into words. You might be navigating relationship difficulties, separation, loss, or change, while continuing to function even when it feels difficult beneath the surface. Inside, your thoughts may feel tangled or conflicted, and speaking to friends may no longer feel enough. Therapy begins here.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
