If you’re really struggling and unsure where to turn, then I might be able to help you. Hello, I’m Neil and I’m a psychotherapeutic counsellor based in the heart of Leicester city. I’ve been a therapist for over 3 years and come with over 25 years of experience working in children and family social care. From this, I have gained significant insight into childhood and teenage trauma and its impact later on in life on how we see ourselves, how we see the world and how we behave in relationships with others.

Welcome. I offer a compassionate, heart-centred approach to existential crises. Our search for meaning and purpose, who we really are and why we are here often comes under the guise of other problems or illness. We may experience depression, anxiety, grief about our planet, shame, deep loneliness, identity concerns, suicidal feelings or quest for soul and and a spiritual path. During therapy, I can help you develop self-compassion and inner strength, so you can face difficulties while clarity and self-knowledge grow, leaving behind what is not supporting you and moving on to live your authentic self, your truth and your dreams.

How we are with ourselves matters. At the core of my counselling work is you. Does trauma, grief or doubt steer you away from where you are or what you are striving towards? I understand sharing these experiences can be overwhelming or uncomfortable. In a confidential and calm space, I will support you through your personal thought and emotional explorations. At your pace we will understand and reflect on past and present experiences, inviting compassionate inner dialogue and movement away from shame and criticism. I am committed to being respectful and sensitive towards the diversity of experience and beliefs. I will not judge you.

There comes a time when we all need the space to think in a quiet private place. A place to be free, to be heard and to share the deep routed feelings and concerns. Whether you are finding it difficult to understand your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. If you are finding life difficult right now. Having an accepting, non-judgemental and confidential space to explore all of this will allow for a positive mind set as well as an improvement in your overall wellbeing. I am a person-centred counsellor working in an integrative way as not one style of working fits all. I will offer you support and guidance along your personal journey.

Hi, I'm Caitlyn. I know how overwhelming the search for a therapist can be - especially when life can already feel overwhelming. Many people turn to therapy because they are struggling with depression and anxiety, processing a loss, wanting to understand themselves better, longing to shift areas of stuckness, living with relational difficulties, or experiencing the aftermath of trauma. Therapy can be a place to engage with your story, be met in your pain, understand your patterns of relating, and feel seen.

A great deal of my practice is focused on supporting individuals going through challenging times in their lives due to anxiety, depression and those having difficulty in finding direction. I have particular experience supporting people suffering from chronic or terminal illness and with bereaved people, exploring the many complex issues which arise at such times. I am very comfortable and able to work with clients who have concerns about sexual identity and sexuality. I am also a qualified supervisor. Within this role, again, I base my practise on a developmental, relational model.

"Maybe the journey isn't so much about becoming anything. Maybe it's about unbecoming everything that isn't you, so you can be who you were meant to be in the first place."unknown. There are many different reasons to seek out counselling - whatever your reason, I aim to provide a safe, confidential space and time that is yours. A place for you to talk and be heard, to explore, to imagine, to feel and express without judgement. A place where you are not alone in your journey, but have someone alongside you to support you and honour your unique life experiences.

Have you ever wished you could say how you really felt, and that someone would take the time to listen to you? Perhaps you have kept your thoughts and feelings to yourself through fear of being put down, judged, or laughed at? Or maybe you put your problems aside because you feel the other person is more important? Counselling is the opportunity to sort your thoughts; gives you time to work out what you really feel, the space to consider your options, and decide what you feel is best for you. People come for different reasons, but all wish the same outcomes; to be heard, be understood, feel better and find ways to enjoy their life.

If your feelings are holding you back from achieving the goals that you want, because they are overwhelming you, counselling can help you make sense of those feelings and emotions, which can help you find healing, clarity and calmness. Our life experiences create who we are, and what we can achieve, but sometimes our experiences result in trauma that stays with us until we find the courage to meet it head on. I can be with you and support you as you begin this journey, and remain with you as long as you want me to.

As a man you may be experiencing confusion, stress or despair around your role and how to meet new expectations of emotional openness. Perhaps it feels like no one understands you and how hard you try to be a good person. Maybe you want to be less stressed and angry, enjoy some inner peace, and rekindle your spark for life again which was sucked out of you a long time ago. Perhaps you feel fear, shame or isolation, and just want to be confident and self-assured again. Or you may be a woman seeking to understand the behaviour of important men in your life.

Spirituality Counsellors
What should I expect from therapy that incorporates a focus on spirituality?
Spirituality can mean different things to different individuals, depending on their experiences, beliefs, and life histories. Some individuals focus on strengthening their belief system, while others experience spirituality in secular ways, such as through meditation, yoga, or by spending time in nature. Clients can expect a therapist to help guide and grow their spirituality through any of these techniques, encouraging the individual to cope with the challenges they face and develop strategies to build resilience and purpose to improve their outlook in life.
What are the most common treatments that include spirituality?
There are several treatments that incorporate spirituality. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) helps a person examine and reframe their negative thoughts and behaviours. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on emotional acceptance and psychological flexibility. Existential therapy is most often used to address anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, apathy, despair, questions of identity, and feelings of purposelessness and existential dread. Transpersonal therapy focuses on a client’s spirituality and meaning in life and may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualisation, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork.
Can therapy incorporating spirituality help atheistic or agnostic individuals?
Yes. For non-believers, spirituality can offer benefits including a greater sense of connection to others and to the natural world. An interest in spirituality may also spur individuals to pursue mindfulness practices, or to contemplate their purpose in life and how to achieve it.
How effective is spirituality as a therapeutic remedy?
Research suggests spirituality is generally beneficial for individuals. It is correlated with better health habits, such as less substance use, and an improved capacity to cope with stress and other mental health challenges. Increased spirituality can lead individuals to become more empathic and less materialistic, as well.
