I am a specialist in the
perinatal
period, and can help with anxiety, depression, panic attacks, post traumatic stress disorder, birth trauma, obsessional compulsive disorder, maternal OCD, grief and loss, low self esteem, relationship problems, work stress, self harm, eating disorders, history of abuse, and more.
Having space to talk, and having some-one who really listens can be an amazing experience that words can’t really describe. Added to this, CBT and CFT can help you to gain skills and techniques to manage difficult feelings. Finally, hypnotic and NLP techniques can get you back in touch with the positive, strong, loving, relaxed part of you that is in there, some-where. So, whatever you may be struggling with, therapy can get you through it more quickly and help you come out the other end feeling stronger and more positive. I am experienced in tele-therapy, so distance needn't be a problem.

It can seem like the hardest thing to do to access counselling, but it can be life changing if you take that first step. You may not be entirely clear on what you want but just have a feeling that things don't feel right and you have decided that you want to understand what, why and how to refocus and live the life you feel is best for you. Or perhaps you are very aware of a struggle with difficulties, which may already be formally diagnosed by another professional, and you want to regain some control instead of feeling that these issues take over. I can support people in achieving their goals wherever they are in their journey.

Anxiety and low mood got the better of you? At times we get stuck in overwhelming, vicious cycles. After changing how I engage with my own anxious thoughts, I decided to train to be a psychotherapist so I could help other people do the same. I wish I’d known about CBT when I was in my 20s! If you are feeling a little overwhelmed by anxiety, then CBT could help you too. I help clients to examine what is maintaining their issues and develop coping techniques. It's impossible to eliminate anxiety altogether, but you can build your resilience and learn to surf the wave! Email contact is best as I am often with clients.Or leave a message

If you are feeling anxious, stressed, depressed, confused or suffering with addiction issues cognitive behavioral therapy can help. I understand how finding the right therapist to work with can be confusing. That’s why I encourage you to have a free telephone consultation first so you can decide for yourself whether we will be a good match. I work with clients while they process and resolve the issues they are facing and find real long lasting solutions to their problems. Somewhere inside you is the person you were meant to be, so let’s release that person, so you can move forwards with clarity and direction.

Pregnancy, Prenatal, Postpartum Counsellors
What are the most effective ways to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns?
The most effective way to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns is by finding a therapist who has prior experience helping other patients overcome the challenge being faced. For example, a marriage and family therapist may have experience helping couples adjust to their new relationship dynamic. An anxiety specialist may have experience helping with phobias or illness anxiety related to the child’s health. A depression specialist may have experience treating postpartum depression.
When should I seek treatment for prenatal or postpartum concerns?
Pregnancy and the postpartum period involve intense physical and mental changes; a degree of upset and instability is normal. However, if these changes impair daily functioning, it may be time to seek help. This distinction is pertinent for postpartum depression: A period of teariness, irritability, and distress is difficult but normal in the one to two weeks after childbirth (sometimes called the “baby blues.”) But if feelings of sadness and hopelessness persist beyond that period, the person should seek treatment.
How do I manage worries during pregnancy or the postnatal period?
A therapist can help patients develop the tools they need to manage anxieties during or after pregnancy. Cognitive behavioural therapy can help people identify and reframe harmful patterns of thought, and change their behaviours. Other techniques and skills can allow people to develop acceptance, psychological flexibility, self-compassion, communication skills, and more.
