I’m Nova, a trauma-informed counsellor specialising in working with sexual violence and its impact. I offer neurodiversity-affirming therapy and bring both professional expertise and lived experience to my work — I have ADHD, which shapes my understanding of difference, identity, and the importance of flexible, inclusive support. I offer a safe, non-judgemental space where you can explore what’s going on for you at your own pace. My approach is creative and integrative, always ethical, and shaped around you rather than a fixed model.

Are you struggling with anxieties? Feeling stuck? Has life become confusing or difficult; are you having relationship or family issues? Perhaps you had difficult moments or experiences in the past? Or maybe things just aren’t working out the way you want or the way you hoped? Life can throw up many problems, and we all sometimes need someone to hear us and help us make sense of things. I'm glad you found your way here. This is the start of change.

Many people reach a point where continuing to cope in the same way no longer feels workable. I work with individuals who feel overwhelmed, or caught in patterns that no longer serve them. This can include navigating high levels of responsibility, performance pressure, complex family relationships, or experiences that have shaped how they relate to themselves and others. I work from an integrative perspective, drawing on a range of psychological approaches and adapting my work to the individual. In practice, this means therapy is shaped around what you need, at a pace that feels right for you.

Your issues might be anxiety, depression, overthinking, people-pleasing, numbness, or feeling “stuck” in the same loops—often linked to earlier experiences you’ve minimised. You need a place to drop the mask and feel met with warmth and honesty. Your goals are calm, clarity, better boundaries and relationships that feel safer. You want therapy because you’re tired of managing alone and want lasting change.

You can meet with me face-to- face at my private practice in Leicester, have telephone counselling or online counselling.
Good mental health is not simply the absence of psychological problems. It is about thinking, acting and feeling in ways that enable you to live joyfully, overcome challenges and flourish. Choices when selecting a professional can be overwhelming. Looking at the lists of therapists and reading about different therapies that you cannot really understand might be frustrating. Whether you are feeling stressed or depressed, you are facing a crisis point in your life or trying to find meaning, or if you simply cannot go on as you have been, I can help you to look at things differently and find your own new way of being.

We live in anxiety provoking society and yet we want to thrive not just survive. How to manage stress and disappointment from our distressing environment is very critical on our daily basis. I believe we have all our innate power to grow and achieve things we want to through our self reflection.

You have already taken the very first step to reach out and help yourself - that is brave. I know it can feel daunting to reach out for help but by working together I can provide that space in a safe, and confidential environment to explore these issues. Is it because nothing is making sense anymore? Feelings of anxiety now have its strongholds and nothing feels certain either, only this deep sinking feeling of dread! There maybe many reasons for accessing counselling and I am mindful that everyone has a story. I am also aware that there can be stigma attached in seeking emotional support.

I offer weekly sessions in-person and online - whether you need a space for a few weeks or many months.
Hi, I'm Caitlyn. I know how overwhelming the search for a therapist can be - especially when life can already feel overwhelming. Many people turn to therapy because they are struggling with depression and anxiety, processing a loss, wanting to understand themselves better, longing to shift areas of stuckness, living with relational difficulties, or experiencing the aftermath of trauma. Therapy can be a place to engage with your story, be met in your pain, understand your patterns of relating, and feel seen.

Is online therapy as effective as in-person?
Numerous studies suggest that online therapy can be as effective as in-person therapy. However, further research is needed to determine if online therapy provides the same benefits across all client populations. Individuals with severe mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, or those who may benefit from in-person check-ins, like those with eating disorders, may not experience the same level of benefit from online therapy. Nonetheless, the success of online therapy, much like in-person therapy, often hinges on the quality of the therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the client rather than the specific modality of therapy used.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of therapy conducted online?
One of the main advantages of online therapy is its convenience for both clients and therapists. It also allows clients who require specialised therapy to access a wider range of professionals than they could with only in-person sessions. Additionally, online therapy may be a more affordable option in some cases and often offers the same insurance benefits as in-person therapy. However, online therapy may not be suitable for everyone, especially those who value face-to-face interaction with a therapist. Therapists may find it more challenging to assess clients accurately in an online setting due to reduced nonverbal cues on camera. There is also the increased risk that disruptions caused by external factors, such as technology malfunctions, can hinder the therapy session. For these reasons, many therapists offer a "hybrid" therapeutic approach, alternating between seeing clients in-person and online.

Is online therapy suitable for children and adolescents?
Just like with adults, the accessibility and convenience of online therapy can greatly benefit children and adolescents. In fact, children and adolescents may be more accustomed to navigating online platforms than older adults, making online sessions feel more natural for them. Teens might also be interested in using additional online tools, such as therapist-recommended apps, as an adjunct to online therapy sessions. Apps for developing CBT skills, practicing mindfulness exercises, or tracking thoughts and moods can be helpful for teens receiving therapy. However, it's important to note that not all therapeutic modalities are well-suited to online therapy, especially those used with younger children. For example, play therapy, which helps younger children express their emotions, often requires in-person sessions to be fully effective.

Can I receive prescriptions and medication management with online therapy?
The ability for psychiatrists to prescribe medications through online therapy varies based on the medication and the states where the medical professional and client are located. While many prescribing regulations were relaxed during the COVID-19 pandemic, some states still enforce rules, especially concerning controlled substances, which may mandate an in-person visit before prescribing. Generally, however, medical professionals can prescribe non-controlled substances through online therapy sessions just as they do during in-person sessions.
