My therapy approach has been particularly effective with clients with low-self esteem, depression, worry, OCD, trauma experiences and social anxiety.
Experience as a Registered Mental Health Nurse, has complimented my delivery of CBT as this allows my therapy approach to recognise the importance addressing all aspects of health: sleep, exercise and nutrition - all playing a role in the individual’s wellbeing. I am also trained in EMDR to treat PTSD and other trauma related problems.

Hello, I believe it can be tough sometimes perhaps because you might be feeling stuck or your sense of direction has derailed, its ok! I get it! All you want is to feel heard. However you are feeling, it truly is ok! Trying to understand where it is you are right now is an important part of therapy, which will help you to overcome issues, such as anxiety, stress, lack of confidence & low self - esteem. You maybe feeling some or all of these and the thought of getting back on track feels like a challenge.

I am a qualified Counsellor/Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor based in Oadby. At times, we can all feel overwhelmed and struggle with the challenges that life brings. Difficult experiences such as burnout, anxiety, fear, anger or deep emotional pain can lead to strong emotions such as anger, fear, anxiety, depression or emotional pain. Talking through these experiences in a supportive and confidential environment can help you gain a deeper understanding of your situation and begin to reduce the intensity of these feelings.

You have already taken the very first step to reach out and help yourself - that is brave. I know it can feel daunting to reach out for help but by working together I can provide that space in a safe, and confidential environment to explore these issues. Is it because nothing is making sense anymore? Feelings of anxiety now have its strongholds and nothing feels certain either, only this deep sinking feeling of dread! There maybe many reasons for accessing counselling and I am mindful that everyone has a story. I am also aware that there can be stigma attached in seeking emotional support.

We are all individuals. We're all different. And difference needs to be celebrated. Each of us brings something unique to the table of life. Sometimes we can feel that our offerings don't fit with what is required and this can lead to some challenges for us - sometimes these can be difficult to deal with. That's where counselling is useful. It's not for everyone, but most people who engage with the process of therapeutic counselling find it to be rewarding and beneficial to their mental wellbeing.

Hi, I'm Caitlyn. I know how overwhelming the search for a therapist can be - especially when life can already feel overwhelming. Many people turn to therapy because they are struggling with depression and anxiety, processing a loss, wanting to understand themselves better, longing to shift areas of stuckness, living with relational difficulties, or experiencing the aftermath of trauma. Therapy can be a place to engage with your story, be met in your pain, understand your patterns of relating, and feel seen.

Our relationship is key. I aim to get to know you over time, but for now, here's a bit about me so you can decide whether to make contact. My practice - www.blokecounselling.com - is for anyone who finds it easier to talk with a bloke. It also describes my style: straight-talking and free from buzzwords. Together, we can explore / understand what’s happened to you and the impact this might have had (rather than be told what’s 'wrong' with you). I've worked in The City (with lots of time in former Soviet Union) and was once described as a corporate, rugby-playing, beer-swilling pig. There's clearly a gentler side to me though.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Counsellors
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine, fluoxetine, and sertraline, among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
