Have you been struggling through life, feeling overwhelmed and wishing you had someone to talk to? It could just be a general sense of feeling down or more deep-rooted feelings of loneliness, anxiety, stress and depression. If this is you then talking to a trained therapist presents the opportunity for you to explore your issues. My beliefs are that it is important to recognise that no two people’s journeys are the same and because of this I utilise my skills and training to tailor counselling sessions.

I work using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, which has a long-established reputation for being a tested and successful way of reducing depression and anxiety.
Anxiety and low mood got the better of you? At times we get stuck in overwhelming, vicious cycles. After changing how I engage with my own anxious thoughts, I decided to train to be a psychotherapist so I could help other people do the same. I wish I’d known about CBT when I was in my 20s! If you are feeling a little overwhelmed by anxiety, then CBT could help you too. I help clients to examine what is maintaining their issues and develop coping techniques. It's impossible to eliminate anxiety altogether, but you can build your resilience and learn to surf the wave! Email contact is best as I am often with clients.Or leave a message

I work with clients using Relationship, CBT , Solution Focused, Psychodynamic, Jungian and Spiritual modalities to help with a broad range of difficulties.
Most of us experience times in our lives when we feel low, worried or anxious. This might be because of specific difficulties such as anxiety, night terrors, panic attacks or depression, it could also be a general sense of feeling down and simply not understanding why. Talking to an experienced, accredited therapist offers you the opportunity to explore what concerns you may have in a confidential, non-judgemental setting with someone who explores what life events might have contributed to these feelings. I have 15 years clinical counselling experience working with adults and 12 years working with students (18+)

I have a background in applied psychology and am experienced in the following psychotherapies: Person Centred, CBT , Transactional Analysis, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy.
I understand how difficult it can be to decide to seek help. This is why I offer a no cost first session to see if you can feel comfortable with me. I am very experienced and approachable and I have helped many people get through difficult times. Anxiety can feel overwhelming. It can lead to physical symptoms of panic, nervous tension, sweating and breathlessness and it can be difficult to think clearly. "What-if" thinking takes over and negativity sets in. I can help you break out of this cycle of doubt by working on restoring your coping skills.

I work with a range of approaches including CBT and EMDR.
Are you experiencing difficult thoughts and feelings such as anxiety, depression, anger and/or sadness? Do you perhaps find it hard to talk about what is going on for you with people around you including your loved ones? You may be noticing that the way you are coping is not helping you to feel better in the long term. I strongly believe that everyone deserves a chance to learn how to manage difficult things that are going on for them, and to move forward to a place where they can feel positive and their mind is at ease. Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) Counsellors

How does cognitive behavioural therapy work?

Cognitive behavioural therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario (catastrophizing) or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.

When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioural therapy?

It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioural therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.

How can I find a cognitive behavioural therapist for someone else?

To find a cognitive behavioural therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioural therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.

Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?

CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
