Person-Centred Counselling can help you work through your emotions and the areas of your life that are causing you concerns in the here and now.  I am trained to work in a trauma informed way. I believe that it is what has happened to you that creates the way you view the world, the way you view yourself and ultimately the way that you behave and feel. This can impact all parts of your life, from your sense of self, to your relationships and your self esteem.

I have a special interest in perinatal, attachment and medical trauma, particularly around fertility (including PCOS & Endometriosis), pregnancy, post partum and early parenthood, and have supported people in high stress roles such as the military, first responders, and prison professionals.
I care deeply about supporting people through perinatal and postpartum mental health, fertility challenges, birth trauma, and parenting or attachment difficulties because I have lived it. Using my own lived experience and evidence based therapies like CBT, EMDR, ACT, and CFT, I provide a safe space to process, heal, and find hope.

The struggles of day to day life can take its toll on our emotional & physical well-being. When we are stressed, anxious, depressed or having difficulty in expressing ourselves to others, then just getting through a day can feel like an impossible task.

I work with women who are finding pregnancy or new motherhood harder than they expected - not in the “normal hard” way people talk about, but in a way that feels isolating and stuck.
I use CBT and EMDR to gently work through what happened and what’s keeping you stuck. We’ll calm anxious thoughts, process difficult experiences, and build practical tools you can use when panic or dread hits. Over time, you can move from survival mode to feeling safer in your body and more present in pregnancy and motherhood.

It can seem like the hardest thing to do to access counselling, but it can be life changing if you take that first step. You may not be entirely clear on what you want but just have a feeling that things don't feel right and you have decided that you want to understand what, why and how to refocus and live the life you feel is best for you. Or perhaps you are very aware of a struggle with difficulties, which may already be formally diagnosed by another professional, and you want to regain some control instead of feeling that these issues take over. I can support people in achieving their goals wherever they are in their journey.

I am a neuroscientist and perinatal mental health therapist who helps mothers understand what is happening in their brains and lives during the transition to parenthood.
Becoming a parent changes everything, but not always in the ways people expect, and rarely in ways that are clearly explained. Many of my clients, who are used to functioning at a high level, are surprised by how disorienting and difficult this stage of life can feel. It has impacted your sleep, identity, stress levels, mental load, relationships, and added invisible demands and pressure. Much of my work begins right there, in that gap between what you thought this experience would feel like and what is actually happening in your mind, your body, your relationships, and your sense of self.

I am a trained birth and abortion doula & am passionate about supporting women with issues relating to pregnancy & all its outcomes.
I know that life challenges and changes have a way of steering us off path and disconnecting us from the heart of who we are which can leave us feeling burnt out and adrift. I work in a holistic way which makes space for both mind & body to guide you back into connection with yourself. I help you gently release trauma and emotion and work towards your goals.

My background is of a long standing NHS Professional who is dedicated to caring for others. I became a counsellor because it was an alternative way to help people and to build on a profession I love but within a different area. My focus is on creating a safe, non-judgemental and compassionate space where you can fully express, explore and experiment with any feelings, thoughts and emotions that you may be struggling with.

Often people find that significant life events and transitions such as birth, loss, marriage, pregnancy, parenthood and divorce can generate a wealth of difficult feelings and experiences that can feel unexpected and overwhelming.
I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the British Psychological Society (BPS). Over the last eleven years, I have worked in many different psychological teams, both within the NHS and in charitable organisations. Therapy can offer a safe place to think about yourself and your difficulties and explore the way in which these difficulties may be impacting on your life as facilitated by a supportive, authentic and collaborative relationship.

My professional and personal lived experience encompasses a range of issues, with particular focus on: anxiety; depression; grief; chronic illness; parenting/ perinatal issues; relationship/family challenges; neurodivergence; school avoidance; low self esteem; and anger.
I trained integratively though primarily work from a person-centred perspective. This means I believe you are the expert on your own life and needs. However, I know from personal experience that this internal voice can sometimes feel lost or silenced.

I work with clients who may be struggling with a wide range of issues, such as depression, anxiety, addiction, trauma/abuse they my have experience in childhood or adulthood, women issues including pregnancy, prenatal , postpartum.
Asking for support can sometimes be difficult, we worry about what people are going to think about us and how they will judge us, our issues may seem too big, too painful, too embarrassing, too weird or the opposite too small , too unimportant to be taken seriously. Those worries can hold you back from seeking support and living the life you want and deserve, I know, I was once there too. Its a scary step trusting someone with your inner most thoughts and feelings but together we can look at your present experience and explore them to see if there is any connection to the past, and identify any changes that can be made.

I offer a non-judgemental, accepting, safe space for you explore how you're feeling at your own pace. I cannot give you the answers, I believe that you have it inside you to find them yourself and I can help you to find them.

What are the most effective ways to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns?
The most effective way to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns is by finding a therapist who has prior experience helping other patients overcome the challenge being faced. For example, a marriage and family therapist may have experience helping couples adjust to their new relationship dynamic. An anxiety specialist may have experience helping with phobias or illness anxiety related to the child’s health. A depression specialist may have experience treating postpartum depression.

When should I seek treatment for prenatal or postpartum concerns?
Pregnancy and the postpartum period involve intense physical and mental changes; a degree of upset and instability is normal. However, if these changes impair daily functioning, it may be time to seek help. This distinction is pertinent for postpartum depression: A period of teariness, irritability, and distress is difficult but normal in the one to two weeks after childbirth (sometimes called the “baby blues.”) But if feelings of sadness and hopelessness persist beyond that period, the person should seek treatment.

How do I manage worries during pregnancy or the postnatal period?
A therapist can help patients develop the tools they need to manage anxieties during or after pregnancy. Cognitive behavioural therapy can help people identify and reframe harmful patterns of thought, and change their behaviours. Other techniques and skills can allow people to develop acceptance, psychological flexibility, self-compassion, communication skills, and more.
