I work with emotional, relational, and identity-based difficulties, and key life experiences such as trauma, loss, conflict, abuse, absence, and lack.
I am an experienced Clinical Psychologist, offering Psychoanalytically-informed Psychotherapy. I understand that psychological difficulties often show up as repeating patterns in how we relate to ourselves, others, and the world. These patterns can be difficult to fully grasp, and can even feel outside of conscious control, leaving us very stuck in life.

Does something need to change? Have you been feeling overwhelmed or frazzled, like everything’s getting on top of you? Do you want to improve your relationships and find more productive ways of communicating? Perhaps memories from your past are holding you back and you’ve decided it’s time to address them in a safe environment with a professional. Or maybe you’re looking for a new direction, a sense of having more agency in your life. If any of this sounds familiar, I might be able to help.

I offer both trauma informed and trauma focussed therapy - Trauma focussed work may be helpful for people who have experienced or witnessed specific traumatic events.
I have over 15 years experience of working with both adults and children and I seek to offer a safe and warm and confidential space to explore and process in the your own time. I adhere to the BACP ethical framework. Initially, I offer an assessment to understand what issues you would like to explore and any goals you might have for our work together. However, this initial assessment is a guide for us and as our therapeutic relationship develops the themes and goals can evolve and change. We can regularly review these throughout our work.

Taking the first step to seeing a Counsellor can feel really hard. Perhaps you are wondering how it could help, feeling like maybe your problems don’t qualify, or maybe they feel so big that you don’t know where to start. Have you have been trying to talk to friends or family about it but feel like they are not really listening? Or do people just want to give you advice? Being truly listened to can make the world of difference; being really heard. I know from experience that this can give us the courage to work through the things we haven’t been able to face on our own.

I also specialise in women's issues, relationship difficulties and complex issues such as trauma and PTSD.
I can integrate different therapies to provide insight into root causes of psychological distress and/or barriers preventing you from living your life the way you would want. The theories I use begin with putting you at the centre of the therapy, and then include working creatively to tailor to individual need.

These patterns often have deep roots in early experiences such as trauma, emotional neglect, inconsistent care, family issues, or growing up with violence or abuse.
I'm a Counselling Psychologist offering a psychoanalytic and relational informed approach. Together we'll explore how your past may be influencing your present, helping you make sense of what's brought you to this point and begin to shift the patterns that no longer serve you - creating freedom in how you live, feel, and connect with others and yourself.

I also have extensive experience working with survivors of complex trauma and dissociation.
In this fast moving, ever-changing and demanding world it can feel difficult to keep your head above water. No matter how hard you try you don't seem to be able to stay afloat. It's hard to know what to do, where to go or who to turn to during these times, and are often left feeling lost and alone. You may even understand whats troubling you but are no closer to a resolve and if anything it just makes it all more challenging. Therapy is a space in which you can explore all of these things safely and with compassionate support to help you find peace and bring some balance to your life.

I work with a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety-related problems such as Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder ( PTSD), and health anxiety.
I know how important it is to feel safe, heard, and respected in therapy. That’s why I prioritise a genuine, human connection from the very first session. Building a strong therapeutic relationship is the foundation of my work, and I’ll take time to create a space where you feel comfortable to share whatever feels important at your own pace. Our initial conversations will focus on understanding what’s brought you to therapy and what you’d like to get out of it. Together, we’ll begin to explore your experiences and build a shared understanding of the challenges you’re facing, as well as the factors that may be contributing to them.

Trauma and PTSD Counsellors

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
