Like me, my client base has been gloriously eclectic. I have extensive experience of working with many types of loss. Grief is painful no matter whether it's as a result of a relationship breakup, loosing touch with parts of yourself. Slowly painfully loosing a loved one to Alzheimers/Dementia, being a carer for a child with an eating disorder. I regularly work with clients who have been in some way affected by a Brain Tumour. Interestingly Anger and Rage is something i have worked with regularly in the last 4 years. If you or your partner are neurodivergent I can help you find collaborative ways of communicating together.

I offer couples and individual counselling. Initially I trained with Relate and extended my experience and training to individual work. My specialisms include relationship work, anxiety, stress, depression, bereavement and loss and inner child work. Counselling helps you to explore and understand the issues making life difficult for you. I do not advise but I do share knowledge. Our first session would be for you to tell me what you are finding difficult, for me to answer your questions about counselling and tell you more about what is involved. Most importantly it is for you to see if you feel comfortable talking with me.

People come to psychoanalytically informed therapy for many reasons—depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, stress, shame, or low self-esteem. What these struggles often have in common is that they have been present for some time and, despite our best efforts, do not improve when we try to manage them alone. This can leave us feeling stuck and isolated, with symptoms and frustrations that gradually intensify.
The aim of this therapy is not only to alleviate conscious symptoms, but also to develop a deeper understanding and awareness of the underlying emotional life that shapes our relationships and our feelings.

You might look as though you are coping well on the outside, yet privately feel overwhelmed, self critical, or stuck in patterns that keep repeating. Perhaps you overthink conversations long after they have ended, question whether you are too much or not enough, or find yourself working hard to keep others happy while neglecting your own needs. You may appear capable and successful, yet struggle with anxiety, self doubt, or relationships that leave you feeling unseen or misunderstood.

In this fast moving, ever-changing and demanding world it can feel difficult to keep your head above water. No matter how hard you try you don't seem to be able to stay afloat. It's hard to know what to do, where to go or who to turn to during these times, and are often left feeling lost and alone. You may even understand whats troubling you but are no closer to a resolve and if anything it just makes it all more challenging. Therapy is a space in which you can explore all of these things safely and with compassionate support to help you find peace and bring some balance to your life.

Sleep or Insomnia Counsellors
How effective is treatment for insomnia?
The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.
Are there specific medications for sleep problems?
There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.
Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?
There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.
What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?
Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
