Finding ways of improving your relationships is also often central to being able to make changes and feeling more able to deal with the challenges you face.
I have worked over the last 30 years as a psychotherapist in the NHS and private practice, and as Head of Psychological Therapies at the Tuke Centre in The Retreat, York. I work with women and men as individuals, couples and in groups, with diverse backgrounds and needs.

I work with people struggling with anxiety, self-doubt, burnout, and draining relationship challenges.
Life can feel relentless, like you’re running on empty. You keep going, trying to please everyone, but underneath you’re exhausted, on edge, and wondering what you really want. You might feel like you can’t make a mistake, like everything will fall apart if you pause, and notice everyone else seems to manage without this weight. Even when you try to rest, guilt and worry keep nagging at you. Therapy is a space to untangle that tension, ease the pressure, and begin feeling lighter.

I offer couples and individual counselling.
All people are unique and so is the experience of counselling unique to each client. I am an integrative counsellor and have a range of approaches. Consequently I can offer clients a "toolbox" from which they can choose how to work. Some clients only want to work with their present difficulties, others wish to explore the impact of their past on the present.

I hold additional CPD certifications including Cyber Therapy, Gender Sex and Relationship Diversity, Trauma and Neurodivergence work.
You’re the one who keeps it together. But inside? It’s a lot. You overthink things, doubt yourself, replay conversations, or feel stuck in patterns you can’t explain. Maybe the past still echoes. Or maybe you’re just tired of pretending everything’s fine. You don’t need quick fixes. You need a space to think, feel, and breathe — without judgement, and without having to perform. That’s what I offer: a place to gently unravel the noise and hear yourself more clearly. We’ll go at your pace, in your way.

Hi, I am a counsellor to individuals, couples and also a clinical supervisor.
Prior to counselling I was cardiac nurse and later a health visitor for children under the age of five. I also hosted a death and dying bereavement cafe at the Drighlington Health Hub prior to Covid, I plan to continue hosting this service when we able to once again gather together indoors within a group setting.

I am a very experienced Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor who specialises in Anxiety, Depression, Sexual Issues, Relationship Problems and work related stress.
You may be in crisis, or perhaps a culmination of patterns is causing you anxiety or stress. The repetitive cycle of arguments can make you feel despairing of change or movement forward. The sensitive subject of sex can be particularly tricky to navigate and as a result we avoid it at all costs. Therapy can open up stuck situations offering resolution.

The ongoing demands of work, personal relationships and/or family responsibilities may be reducing your energy levels.
However, there is no need to struggle alone. Once you have discussed your concerns with me, and identified achievable key goals, my role is then to support you in finding an alternative and more effective way forward. I can offer you bespoke, person-centred, therapeutic coaching which aims to break down the barriers that are hindering reaching your goals.

Waitlist for new clients
People come to counselling for all sorts of reasons; anxiety, relationship issues, depression, bereavement, trauma etc.
I use a number of therapeutic approaches tailored to each client’s individual problems, needs and characteristics. Everyone is different, so expecting someone to fit into one method of therapy is for me, too restrictive. What is common to my approach is that we will work together and I will respect your pace and direction you wish to go in without judgment.

I offer a supportive, compassionate space to help you work through the emotions that come with bereavement, loss, anxiety, stress, and relationship challenges, at a pace that feels right for you.
Through my work as a bereavement counsellor in a hospice and other counselling organisations, I’ve supported many people as they navigate grief, loss, and the complex emotions that come with them. Together, we can make sense of what feels overwhelming, gently explore what’s underneath, and find ways of coping that help you feel steadier and more grounded.

I will help you see that you can change how you feel about yourself, your life, and your relationships.
As an integrative counsellor, I will help you work through whatever issues you bring to our shared space, using the most appropriate therapeutic approach. I recognise that what works for one person might not work for another, and no two people feel the same about what might appear to be a similar ‘thing’ on the outside. After all, you are the expert on you. You have taken the first step, by recognising that you need some help. My practice is called Elpis Therapy - indicating something we all need at times of emotional distress: ‘hope’.

From anxiety or depression to stress management and relationship difficulties – the list goes on.
The unique nature of each client’s needs is reflected in my mode of practice. I am a Relational-Integrative Psychotherapist. " Relational" defines a mode of practice that considers how we each exist in, are developed through, and can experience difficulties in our lives because of our relationships (past & present). They can also provide healing and growth.

Finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming. So, let me share a little about myself. Not just the credentials, but who I am and how I show up in this work, to help you get a sense of whether we might be a good fit. In our sessions, we may talk through your feelings, explore beliefs you’ve been carrying, or look at patterns that no longer feel helpful. There’s no quota you need to meet to start therapy. You don’t need a ‘right reason’ to be here. Therapy can be a space to breathe; it’s a genuine and honest conversation between two people to make sense of your experiences and what they mean to you.
