Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Counselling in Leeds
Hi! I'm Jonathan. Thank you for taking a look at my profile. I know that it's difficult to choose a psychologist, so here is a bit about me and if you'd like a chat before meeting, let me know! I recognise how important the therapeutic relationship is, so initial contact is about creating a safe space for us to work together. We will focus on your goals for therapy and develop a collaborative understanding of your story, and what may be contributing towards any difficulties. I am trained to work with a variety of difficulties from low mood, anxiety and adjustment to trauma, low esteem and family difficulties, amongst many others!

I interwind mindfulness into my approach as I feel having an awareness and being in tune with your mind and body is a good navigation system to resolving unwanted feelings and thoughts.
As an integrative practitioner, I have researched and worked with various models and approaches over the years and have found a holistic therapeutic process increases the success rate of managing and resolving emotional difficulties. My approach looks at the past, present, and future, and therapy offered is tailored to your unique experiences and needs. I believe the therapeutic relationship is the most important aspect of therapy and I base my relationships with clients on collaboration, trust and partnership. I am dedicated in helping you each step of the way and understand how daunting therapy can be especially for first timers.

Hi, I’m Ilan! I’m a Clinical Psychologist and Director of The Oak Tree Practice. I want to tell you a bit more about myself, as I realise selecting a psychologist can be a tough task! I feel very privileged to be able to say I love what I do and always have, ever since I started volunteering for ChildLine in 2007. Following this, I’ve had experience working with a wide variety of clients including children, young people, adults, older adults, military personnel, individuals with learning disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders and neurological conditions. I have also furthered my studies through the completion of undergraduate, masters and doctoral degrees. All this aside, one of the most important parts of my work is building relationships with those sitting opposite me. I have always believed that you can have all the training and knowledge in the world, but if the client doesn’t return, none of this can be put into action. Therefore, my first aim is always to provide a warm, compassionate and non-judgmental space where we can work on the clients’ difficulties together.

I have supported people of all ages with various psychological difficulties, including anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, grief, relationship difficulties, emotional regulation, and anger-related challenges. I have a particular interest in working with adolescents and young adults struggling with mental health issues, neurodivergent individuals who may need adaptations to standard therapy sessions, individuals with eating and body image difficulties, and adults experiencing sexual problems (e.g., painful sex or low desire).

I have worked in mental health for over ten years with adults across the lifespan, children and families who have experienced a range of difficulties, in both community and inpatient settings. I completed my doctorate in clinical psychology at the University of Hertfordshire and currently work in a specialist NHS service for people with learning disabilities. I also have a special interest in working with people with psychosis and unusual experiences and much of my pre-training experience was in this area.

My ideal client is someone who has lived with developmental trauma and long-standing emotional patterns that leave them feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, or stuck. They may function well externally but carry a deep sense of instability or loneliness inside. They want to understand themselves, break repetitive relational cycles, and feel real, grounded, and connected. They’re seeking depth, stability, and meaning because survival mode is no longer enough — they’re ready for genuine, lasting change.

Hi, I’m Nathan, thanks for being here.
I’m an integrative therapist with experience across both the NHS and specialist community services. My work is grounded in understanding how life experiences, especially trauma can shape the way we think, feel, and respond to the world around us.
As an integrative therapist, I don’t believe in a “one size fits all” approach. I work flexibly and collaboratively, adapting how I work to suit you as an individual. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of what you need, we can take things at your pace and begin to make sense of things together.

It can take courage to reach out for support, but you will be met by me with empathy and acceptance. My aim is to hear how life is for you and to work alongside you to help you find ways to make changes that help you feel better and could lead to a greater sense of balance in life.

I specialise in both anxiety and ADHD. Anxiety can make even ordinary life feel like something to survive. The what-ifs, the replaying, the bracing for something that may never come. It's an exhausting way to live, and after a while you can't imagine feeling any other way. ADHD can leave you feeling like your mind is working against you. The chaos at home, the missed deadlines, and the grief of knowing what you're capable of and not getting there. Not laziness, just a mind that works differently. If either of those resonates, you're in the right place.
