Do you have extremes of feeling: anger/numbness; fear/fearlessness; afraid to be alone/pushing others away? Maybe you have a sense of yourself as being very different with different people, or in different situations. You may have some ideas as to the roots of your current difficulties, or it may feel as though it has come out of nothing. It may be that you have struggled to find a therapist who can offer more than a limited number of sessions, or that you haven't felt able to bring the different parts of yourself. All parts of you are welcome here.

I am a Relate-trained couples counsellor who also works with individuals experiencing relationship difficulties. I specialise in helping couples to communicate more effectively and working through grief and bereavement issues. Common themes for couples include unrealistic expectations, miscommunications, assumptions, and inability to find compromise in conflict. Differing values and beliefs, cultural clashes, and extended family presence, can lead to a mis-perception of incompatibility. Life transitions can be particularly challenging and I offer a safe space to create greater understanding of each other's changing needs.

There are many reasons for considering therapy. Maybe you’re feeling lost or facing a personal crisis. Perhaps you’re struggling for purpose or meaning in your life? Or wanting to modify your behaviours or change destructive patterns. Therapy can support you as you explore your relationship with the world, helping you move from where you are now to where you want to be.

Welcome to a space where you are seen, heard, and supported. My practice is built on the belief that everyone deserves a non-judgmental environment to explore their emotions, experiences, and challenges. Using a gentle and compassionate approach, I address a wide range of issues, including disordered eating, family and developmental challenges, anxiety and depression as well as gender and sexuality. I also work heavily with clients exploring their neurodivergence, including ADHD and autism. My practice also extends to couples counselling and group work for those seeking to transform their relationship with food and weight

Are you looking for a therapist who you can trust to be a safe pair of hands? You may be an individual, or a couple, and feel weary and disconnected. You may find that discussions with your partner often end up in the same unhappy cycle each time, pushing you further apart and nothing gets resolved. You may be struggling to recover from an affair, or a feeling of betrayal. I work in a compassionate and supportive way- sometimes with a gentle challenge- untangling together what might be keeping you stuck. We will work towards whatever your goals and needs are. You might be surprised how small changes can really have a huge impact.

Hi, I'm Carolina. Most people I work with aren't sure exactly what they need when they first get in touch. They just know something feels off. Maybe anxiety is making it hard to switch off, sleep, or feel present. Maybe low mood has gradually taken hold and things that used to feel manageable no longer do. Maybe life has shifted — a move, a relationship change, a new role — and you're left feeling unsettled, lost, or unlike yourself. Whatever has brought you here, you don't need a diagnosis or a clear goal to begin. We can explore that together.

I believe that every person I've ever worked with has been doing the best they can with the resources they have. Not everyone has the same resources as others do, whether by trauma, neglect, poverty, neurodiversity or discrimination, many people are trying to navigate life without the tools and skills they are often expected to have. My goal as a counsellor is to try to help you rebuild and learn these missing resources to help you to navigate life with resilience, confidence and joy.

You have likely arrived here because yourself or someone you know is thinking about counselling. This can be a worrying and confusing time and you may just need information about what counselling is and how you can make use of it. I chose counselling as a career as there was a time where I felt like I had no voice. I was alone with my thoughts and feelings. Having therapy, allowed me to understand how it feels to be listened to, with no judgement or a fear of being misunderstood. It gave me time, space and the confidence to open up. I want to work with others and communicate how to work on their self-love and belief in themselves.

I am trained in a number of approaches but first and foremost I begin with a person centred approach. This means I will listen to you and together we can build a way of working that suits you best - I am here to hear how things are from your point of view. Counselling offers an opportunity to explore what matters at the heart of your life with an experienced professional in a quiet, confidential setting. In a first appointment we can explore together what you're looking for from therapy. We can meet weekly or fortnightly to explore a focused goal or we can just make space to gently explore how you're feeling and see what comes up!

I offer a supportive space to explore and make sense of whatever you are struggling with. It may be an experience of being out of place or being out of step, and feelings of overwhelm, sadness and frustration - whatever brought you to therapy will be our starting point for working together - also if you cannot exactly put into words what has made you search for a therapist. I value the unique rhythm and pace of exploration of each individual and I am committed to creating a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and inclusive space.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
