AXA PPP Counselling in Leeds
Often our anxieties and difficulties can weigh us down and we are unable to find a way forward. Perhaps we experience intrusive anxious thoughts or our inner critic is just too loud and holds us back. Maybe we keep repeating the same unhelpful behaviour again and again. Or perhaps past trauma feels too present and we are still experiencing its physical and emotional impact and the way it makes us behave. Our thoughts and feelings can be confusing and talking to friends and relatives may be too difficult. I provide a safe, respectful space in which you can explore your difficulties, gain insight and discover a way forward.

Life can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re carrying things that others can’t see. You might feel stuck, anxious, burnt out, or unsure why you’re not coping. You may also feel misaligned or uncertain about what comes next. I don’t offer quick fixes or advice, I offer a safe, non-judgemental space for counselling or coaching, to explore what’s going on at your pace. For trauma or distressing events, I use gentle approaches like the Rewind Technique, which can help you process difficult memories without having to relive them in detail. Sometimes, having someone who really listens is the first step.

I believe seeking therapy is reaching for oneself when things don’t feel right. It’s an act of self-care and compassion and never a sign of weakness. Sometimes, we may know what is causing us to feel the way we are. It may be a change in circumstances, in a relationship or relationships, loss, money worries, health issues, difficult past traumatic experiences or any other life events that shake us off our balance. These issues can make us feel sad, depressed, anxious, angry, or confused. All these feelings can be explored and made sense of in the therapy space .

I am passionate about helping people to understand and unstick difficult patterns in their lives. When traumatic or stressful events happen, we make sense of them as best we can at the time. Sometimes this leaves us with ways of feeling and coping that don’t work as well in our current lives, maybe causing problems in our relationships or with our wellbeing. I help people struggling with anxiety, grief, low self-esteem and other problems to find new ways of coping, and to work towards living a more fulfilling and balanced life. If you are feeling overwhelmed or stuck, I can offer a space to step back and find a new way forward.

I work in a collaborative way with clients who present with unaddressed trauma, relational problems, anxiety, depression, low mood and a feeling of hopelessness. I have a special interest in trauma, attachment issues and addiction. Many of my clients identify with feeling stuck in their current situation or wanting to be more self aware and connected with themselves. Identifying their mind-body connection enables the client to recognise triggers and self-regulate rather than rely upon external resources or behaviours.

Many of the people I work with are managing well on the outside, holding down jobs, caring for others, keeping things together. But underneath, they're anxious, hard on themselves, and often feel low, numb, or unable to enjoy things in the way they used to. Therapy offers a space to understand what has shaped your experience and how you might respond to life differently. I don't offer a fixed programme, rather I work with you as an individual and adjust my approach depending on what you bring.

Sometimes the barriers we face aren’t just in the mind—they’re held in the body too. Fatigue, tension, or feeling disconnected from yourself can make even small changes feel impossible. In therapy, I help you:
- Make sense of recurring patterns.
- Understand how mind and body may be keeping you stuck.
- Develop kinder, more sustainable ways forward.
Together, we explore not just how you think, but how you feel and live day to day—so you can rebuild confidence, create lasting habits, and reconnect with the version of yourself that feels most authentic.

I wonder what brings you here today? Maybe you are at quarter or midlife and desire change or meaning. Is the pressure and strain of 'doing it on your own' or 'holding it all in' is getting too much? Perhaps your relationships keep following the same painful scripts- maybe another pair of eyes and compassionate presence will help? Compulsions or addictions might offer short term relief but long term shame and anxiety- you might yearn to bring them into honest and caring dialogue?
An accredited UKCP Psychotherapist, informed by Relational Psychoanalysis, Jungian Psychology and Attachment Theory but holding these lightly.
