I help people with a wide range of issues including bereavement, any type of loss, depression and anxiety and am also experienced in working with adults with chronic or life-limiting illnesses, their carers and families.
I believe that there is no right or wrong way to grieve any loss and that whilst everything around you may have changed, your life can go on and it is okay to smile and laugh again. My Christian faith informs my practice and any faith or none is welcome.

Difficult feelings such as unhappiness, loss, anxiety, anger, shame, guilt and low self-esteem can impact heavily on our well-being.
My foundation is Psychodynamic but I adopt an integrative approach, drawing from different models to provide a tailored approach to suit your needs. The changes are long lasting, as we would explore the root causes of your struggles and aim to work through them, rather than just trying to manage the resulting symptoms or 'paper over the cracks'.

I am a psychosynthesis therapist with additional training in bereavement and creative expression.
Our minds are powerful, and often given all the attention when ‘mental health’ no longer feels ‘healthy’. But as time goes by, transpersonal therapy can help us see that the symptoms are there for a reason; perhaps we weren't living a fulfilling and authentic life. So we honour what your system is trying to say; let it guide us towards a more empowered you.

Many of my clients are women in their middle age, like me. You may be worried about your children, looking after parents, dealing with marital problems, with work stress, health issues and pre, mid or post menopause. It's a lot to juggle. What can get lost in the middle of all this is you. Can you remember who you were before all of this, and how does that compare with who you are now? It may be that you need support with the stress, anxiety or low mood brought on by any of these issues. Or it may be that you need help with your self-esteem to find a way forward. Either way I'm here for you.

Are you struggling with anxiety, a bereavement, PTSD, sadness, anger or having relationship difficulties?
Finding the right counsellor can be difficult. How do we know if our life is going to improve by talking to someone? I do offer a free 20 minute chat if preferable to discuss your individual requirements and encourage you to ask any questions before committing to a full session. I work with individuals and couples in a peaceful setting.

My work is grounded in warmth, curiosity, and respect for the many layers that shape a person’s experience — culture, identity, relationships, faith, loss, and the quiet stories we carry beneath the surface.
Hello, I am Mamakhala. I am a Humanistic counsellor who believes deeply in the healing power of being truly heard, seen, and met as you are. People often come to me during times of transition, uncertainty, or emotional overwhelm. My intention is to offer a steady, compassionate space where you can pause, breathe, and begin to make sense of what feels difficult or unclear.

I work with clients (18+) with various challenges including; stress, anxiety, self-esteem/confidence, menopause, anger, relationship/work issues, depression and bereavement ( loss).
Life certainly has ups and downs and the downs can be hard to navigate alone. Perhaps you don't feel right, your relationships might be suffering, you may feel exhausted from trying to maintain a positive side. Maybe you keep doing the same things over and over but cannot seem to break the cycle. Counselling gives you the valuable space and time to find your way in a supported and non-judgmental environment. In addition to my Gestalt training, focusing on creativity and the body (when our brain feels overwhelmed), I recently trained in EMDR to help unblock stuckness derived from many types of trauma.

How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
