I am currently counselling at Myton Hospice, Age UK taking GP referrals working with Loss, Bereavement, Stress, Anxiety, Addictions, PTSD, Trauma, Dementia, Neurological conditions.
Hello my name is Sonya, I am a CBT therapist (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy). Sometimes in life we all get to a point where we just need to reach out. I can offer you time to listen effectively in a comfortable, safe, and confidential environment. Working with CBT enables you to talk about your feelings and emotions in situations as they may affect our behaviours and by recognising this we can adapt some change. Being able to express your feelings or presenting issue may be difficult especially to loved ones, family and friends. Reach Out will empower you to contribute to your well-being, sense of belonging, and self worth in Therapy.

Time4Hope has been established during my 18 years of working with parent/carers who have children/young people with Complex, Profound, Autistic and Life Limited Disabilities. My goal during counselling is to reduce the severe distress often experienced by parents, when trying to meet their children's high and challenging needs. Counselling can identify the causes of pressures and develop new strategies to build stronger resilience. I also counsel children and adults with a range of struggles such as low-self esteem and confidence. Together we will explore the experiences that have created this and undo unhelpful patterns.

My name is Corrina, I'm here to help you heal the wounds you can’t always see. You might feel like you should be fine, but inside, something still feels unsettled. Maybe you grew up feeling unseen, had to keep the peace, or learned to be strong for everyone else. These quiet hurts, the small “t” traumas, can stay with us, shaping how we see ourselves and how safe we feel with others. If you find yourself anxious, overthinking, people-pleasing, or struggling to rest, you’re not broken. You’re responding exactly as your body learned to survive.

“Most men lead lives of quiet desperation and die with their song still inside them” Men don’t suffer more psychological disorders than women overall, however, the way men suffer them can be more destructive and problematic as they tend to externalise their suffering in the form of violence, substance abuse, anger, aggression, etc. Moreover, men’s psychological suffering is further compounded by men often hiding their issues and being reluctant to report symptoms. My mission is to work with men to help them become the type of man they want to be and so to lead their 'best lives'.

Life can become difficult and overwhelming sometimes. Maybe you are feeling stuck, frustrated, or are finding something too much to face alone. When you're the one experiencing the problem it can be hard to see the bigger picture and think clearly. Whether you’ve experienced a one off event, need help to work out something which is on-going, or want to move past something you’ve struggled with for a while, and you are looking for help to bring about much needed change, I work as an integrative therapist which means I work collaboratively with you to find the best way forward.

On the outside, you appear to be coping. Inside, it is constant pressure - overthinking, self-criticism, never feeling 'enough'. I help professionals break free from anxiety, perfectionism and overwhelm with CBT and counselling tailored to who you are, not just what you do. Struggling with trying to hold it all together is exhausting. It can take so much energy to get through the day, that it can feel impossible to make changes. Imagine if you said, 'enough is enough'. Imagine you found a way to get to the bottom of what is causing distress and turn things around.

Client's will be able to understand the historical and systemic influences to their problems and to find ways to create change both for themselves and others that they associate with. Many of my client's also have unresolved trauma that influences their day to day interactions, relationships, psychological state and/or physical health. They would hope to be able to make sense of both their mood and beliefs but to also be able to find ways to reprocess or clear any related trauma, make sense of associated anxiety, stress, behaviours and negative beliefs, to find ways to manage, think and behave differently and find new strengths.

So I have a young person aged 15. There is evidence of self harm and 2 overdoses -neither life threatening but a call for ' I need help and to be listened to'. I need to look at where these issues are coming from, is there intent to commit suicide, give that young person tools and strategies for doing something differently when there is a possibility for further self harm. They want an alternative so we look at triggers, noticing what is happening inside their body, what their negative automatic thoughts are, We set SMART goals, from something very small -they need to be able to achieve the goals, and then increase these slowly.

I understand that considering to approach someone to discuss private and intimate matters is not easy, but this can be life changing. Experiencing emotional difficulties that affect your moods and behaviour are more common than you think. This can significantly impact a wide range of aspects in your day-to-day life and relationships. Therapy is often an effective way to reach a better understanding of yourself and the causes of your emotional discomfort. It may also help you to find the best way forward to overcome challenges and move on to experience meaningful life improvements simultaneously alleviating pressures and stress.

Feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from yourself? If you find yourself repeating unhelpful patterns, feeling like you’re on joyless autopilot, or struggling to feel authentic in your work and relationships, you’re not alone. Many of my clients are high-performing professionals, creatives and parents who feel emotionally stretched, burnt out, or uncertain about how to make meaningful change. As a Gestalt therapist, I work with you to explore how you show up in the world and in relationships and why certain patterns keep repeating. We look at the deeper roots of your struggles and together work towards healing.

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
