Are you feeling the effects of childhood trauma? A bereavement? Estrangement from a faith community or spiritual abuse? Clients typically approach me because they are feeling lonely or unfulfilled, are experiencing anxiety or depression, self loathing or self sabotage. Sometimes because of a relationship breakdown or problems at work. Sometimes wondering,“Who on earth am I ? ”

Welcome to my profile. I'm Rob. My clients find therapy gives them a place to let go and be themselves. Therapy can be laid back and approachable - in fact, so much more seems possible when it is. It can be so liberating to truly be yourself. That means not worrying how you appear, if you'll offend someone, or if you'll be judged. Those things take so much effort. Here you can go for it! Say what you like, see what happens, let it all out. I promise I won't judge you. You deserve to be heard and understood from your point of view. If you didn't have enough of that in your life, here's a chance to make up for it.

I draw on a range of well-established approaches—person-centred, psychodynamic, humanistic, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)— in addition to somatic/polyvagal.
People come to me with many different life experiences. Our sessions are a collaborative process, helping you to understand yourself more fully, see things from new perspectives, and develop tools and inner resources for life’s challenges. After years of understanding and overcoming my own challenges, I developed a passion for helping others understand themselves more deeply too. I offer a space that feels grounded, warm, and real — sometimes with a little humour — where we can work together to find a way forward.

I qualified as a nurse in 1987 and spent many years working primarily as a practice nurse. This role gave me a unique insight into the challenges people face when expressing their sexual needs, both individually and within relationships. Over time, I observed that treatment for sexual difficulties was often over-medicalised and lacked sensitivity, failing to consider the whole person. In 2017, I began training in psychosexual therapy and have since had the privilege of working with the NHS and other specialist organisations, both face-to-face and online. Today, I practice independently as an online psychosexual therapist.

I work with a careful blend of well-established psychotherapy approaches ( psychodynamic, existential, person-centred, transactional analysis), rather than relying on a single method and expecting it to suit everybody, all of the time.
I am an integrative psychotherapist offering a warm, supportive space to explore what brings you to therapy, help you feel understood, make sense of your challenges, and help you move toward your goals at a pace that feels right for you. I can offer therapy in English and in French. My professional journey includes working with adults who have experienced trauma, addiction, grief, terminal illness, and diverse mental health needs.

I use a combination of Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic therapies to tailor an approach that's specifically suited to your needs and journey.
Are you exhausted from holding it all together? On the outside everything may look fine/work, routine, the people around you, but inside there's anxiety, low mood, grief, or a quiet sense that something isn't right. Maybe you're stuck in patterns you can't seem to break, or carrying something you've never really put into words. You don't have to keep going alone. I'm a BACP Accredited psychotherapist and clinical supervisor in Central London, working in English and Spanish. Together we'll slow things down, understand what's really happening, and find a way forward. Free 15-minute consultation - no pressure.

People often come to me when life feels overwhelming, stuck, or harder to manage. You might be feeling anxious, exhausted, low, tearful, on edge, numb, or in emotional or physical pain, or just coping day to day. Perhaps you’re overthinking, not sleeping well, burnt out, grieving, or noticing repeated patterns in relationships, work, or life changes. I offer a calm, confidential space either in person just outside Bowness-on-Windermere, within 5 miles, in a peaceful Lake District countryside setting or online.

I began my therapy practice in 2000 when training as a psychodynamic counsellor.
Hi. I'm Pete and I've been practicing as a therapist in the NHS for over 20 years. I now work as a Senior Lecturer in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and have a private therapy practice too, offering therapy and clinical supervision. Whatever it is that brings you to therapy, I will aim to build a safe place where we can work together to overcome whatever is causing you distress.

I work with young people, adults, and families who struggle with feelings of anxiety, stress, low self esteem and low mood, worthlessness, and self-doubt. Perhaps you are an obsessive overthinker, struggling with OCD, or set excessively high standards/feel exhausted, and or are self-critical. We can work on techniques to relearn a more helpful and constructive view. How you talk to yourself matters. If your voice is unkind, it undermines your self-worth. What is important when dealing with stress or self criticism is to reframe our mindset towards it, but more crucial, to recover from it so that we don’t linger in this state.

What makes me unique is the eclectic learning experiences I have had on my way to becoming a psychotherapist in my 50's. So I have a big tool box and draw on many different approaches to enable you to make sense of your current issues in the light of your past experiences so that you have more freedom to make changes and choose the life course you really want. I am trauma informed, developmentally minded and brain based, but I also account for the power of the human spirit to overcome the past and to live fulfilled and abundant lives.

Art Therapy is a form of psychotherapy informed by psychodynamic and integrative therapy theories and can be practised with children, young people and adult clients.
Hello, if you're looking for a creative way to explore your concerns, in Art Therapy you will have the opportunity to use art-making as a means of communication and self expression. I offer a safe, confidential, person-centred creative space and a rich variety of 2D and 3D art and craft materials for drawing, painting, crafting and clay modelling. Your art-making process and image can then provide the focus for reflection and discussion. No experience in art is necessary and although the emphasis will be on your art-making, it is your choice of how much talking you wish there to be in your session.

Psychodynamic Counsellors
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
