Clients typically approach me because they are feeling lonely or unfulfilled, are experiencing anxiety or depression, self loathing or self sabotage. I qualified as a nurse in 1987 and spent many years working primarily as a practice nurse. This role gave me a unique insight into the challenges people face when expressing their sexual needs, both individually and within relationships. Over time, I observed that treatment for sexual difficulties was often over-medicalised and lacked sensitivity, failing to consider the whole person.
In 2017, I began training in psychosexual therapy and have since had the privilege of working with the NHS and other specialist organisations, both face-to-face and online. Today, I practice independently as an online psychosexual therapist.

Are you tired of just surviving? Giving everything you've got just to get through another day? Do you feel lost, alone and in pain, with no idea who you actually are or what you need or want? Through Phoenixology therapy with Dr Naomi Parsons you'll find someone to walk the path alongside you, someone who's travelled the route themselves and knows that the view from the top is 1000% worth it. Maybe you're trying to hold everything together while feeling disconnected from yourself. Perhaps you’ve spent so long taking care of others that you’ve lost sight of your own needs. You may be struggling with low self-esteem, people-pleasing, or feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve you. You're not alone, and don’t have to figure it out alone.
My approach is culturally sensitive. I create a space where you can speak freely without judgment or the need to explain your background. I also integrate tools from CBT, compassion-focused therapy, and trauma-informed care to support your goals at your pace.

Something in your life may feel heavier, more unsettled, or harder to manage than it once was. You may have been coping on your own for a long time, but have reached a point where that now feels impossible. In our sessions, I bring a calm, warm, steadying presence as you begin to make sense of your experiences and find a way forward that feels more manageable and true to you. You don’t need the right words or a crystal clear understanding of what’s going on in order to come to therapy, we can start wherever you are, move at a pace that feels right for you, and gently explore what feels most present and important for you right now.

The ways we cope, relate and protect ourselves often develop through experiences where we may not have felt fully safe, seen or understood. Therapy can offer a different kind of relational space, one where you can explore your experiences gently, at your own pace, and begin reconnecting with yourself in ways that feel more grounded and authentic.
Together, we can begin to make sense of patterns in how you experience yourself in relationship with others that may leave you feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or alone. I offer a warm, reflective and emotionally attuned space where you can feel heard with care and without judgement.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
