Psychotherapy is an opportunity to explore how we make sense of the sometimes contrasting ways we see the world. It offers a space to explore the ways we experience and are making sense of our past and present. To do this we want to cultivate a collaborative space where we befriend the habits that separate us from ourself and others. Often our habits are so habitual we don’t realise we are doing them. They have become almost unconscious in what we do. They are embodied in how we do life… they have become somatised.

Maybe you're trying to hold everything together while feeling disconnected from yourself. Perhaps you’ve spent so long taking care of others that you’ve lost sight of your own needs. You may be struggling with low self-esteem, people-pleasing, or feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve you. You're not alone, and don’t have to figure it out alone. My approach is culturally sensitive. I create a space where you can speak freely without judgment or the need to explain your background. I also integrate tools from CBT, compassion-focused therapy, and trauma-informed care to support your goals at your pace.

Hello, if you're looking for a creative way to explore your concerns, in Art Therapy you will have the opportunity to use art-making as a means of communication and self expression. I offer a safe, confidential, person-centred creative space and a rich variety of 2D and 3D art and craft materials for drawing, painting, crafting and clay modelling. Your art-making process and image can then provide the focus for reflection and discussion. No experience in art is necessary and although the emphasis will be on your art-making, it is your choice of how much talking you wish there to be in your session.

I work with young people, adults, and families who struggle with feelings of anxiety, stress, low self esteem and low mood, worthlessness, and self-doubt. Perhaps you are an obsessive overthinker, struggling with OCD, or set excessively high standards/feel exhausted, and or are self-critical. We can work on techniques to relearn a more helpful and constructive view. How you talk to yourself matters. If your voice is unkind, it undermines your self-worth. What is important when dealing with stress or self criticism is to reframe our mindset towards it, but more crucial, to recover from it so that we don’t linger in this state.

What makes me unique is the eclectic learning experiences I have had on my way to becoming a psychotherapist in my 50's. So I have a big tool box and draw on many different approaches to enable you to make sense of your current issues in the light of your past experiences so that you have more freedom to make changes and choose the life course you really want. I am trauma informed, developmentally minded and brain based, but I also account for the power of the human spirit to overcome the past and to live fulfilled and abundant lives.

You've held it together for years. But something has shifted, you feel exhausted, anxious, or quietly disconnected, and you're not sure why. Perhaps you've been part of a system — institutional, professional, or cultural — that slowly wore you down. Or you're a reflective, high-achieving person living with anxiety, depression, or panic that no longer stays hidden. I'm an integrative therapist specialising in trauma, moral injury, anxiety, and displacement. As a Ukrainian refugee, I bring lived understanding of identity and belonging. I work in Ukrainian, Russian, and English. You don't have to figure this out alone. Let's talk

I have worked with children, young people and their families for over 13 years. I work primary from an attachment perspective and am passionate about supporting children and young people to experience connection and safety in their relationships with caregivers. In doing this I tend to integrate a range of approaches including Video Interaction Guidance, Theraplay and PACE (from Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy). I also offer individual therapy where I make use of approaches including cognitive behavioural therapy, compassion focused therapy and EMDR.

Attachment-based Counsellors
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioural Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
