Welcome to my profile. I'm Rob. My clients find therapy gives them a place to let go and be themselves. Therapy can be laid back and approachable - in fact, so much more seems possible when it is. It can be so liberating to truly be yourself. That means not worrying how you appear, if you'll offend someone, or if you'll be judged. Those things take so much effort. Here you can go for it! Say what you like, see what happens, let it all out. I promise I won't judge you. You deserve to be heard and understood from your point of view. If you didn't have enough of that in your life, here's a chance to make up for it.

Anxiety, depression and relationship issues can be devastating.
Something in your life may feel heavier, more unsettled, or harder to manage than it once was. You may have been coping on your own for a long time, but have reached a point where that now feels impossible. In our sessions, I bring a calm, warm, steadying presence as you begin to make sense of your experiences and find a way forward that feels more manageable and true to you. You don’t need the right words or a crystal clear understanding of what’s going on in order to come to therapy, we can start wherever you are, move at a pace that feels right for you, and gently explore what feels most present and important for you right now.

I work with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds who are navigating difficult life experiences, pregnancy and motherhood, parenting pressures, separation, grief, anxiety, depression, identity questions, or the quiet struggles of trying to "fit in" while staying true to oneself.
Maybe you're trying to hold everything together while feeling disconnected from yourself. Perhaps you’ve spent so long taking care of others that you’ve lost sight of your own needs. You may be struggling with low self-esteem, people-pleasing, or feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve you. You're not alone, and don’t have to figure it out alone. My approach is culturally sensitive. I create a space where you can speak freely without judgment or the need to explain your background. I also integrate tools from CBT, compassion-focused therapy, and trauma-informed care to support your goals at your pace.

I work with clients who have varying difficulties, in particular I have a focus on anxiety, OCD and relational issues; helping clients to go deeper into what lies beneath while also dealing with what is in front of them, through a collaborative process helping the client realise their own innate compassion, courage and wisdom to overcome their issue.
People come to me with many different life experiences. Our sessions are a collaborative process, helping you to understand yourself more fully, see things from new perspectives, and develop tools and inner resources for life’s challenges. After years of understanding and overcoming my own challenges, I developed a passion for helping others understand themselves more deeply too. I offer a space that feels grounded, warm, and real — sometimes with a little humour — where we can work together to find a way forward.

Whilst the symptoms may present as anxiety, depression and much more it is what sits beneath that is important.
Head to my website (link at the very bottom) for more details of how I can support you. Life is messy. Even the capable, high-functioning, "I've got this" people feel it. If you're functioning on the outside but feeling unsettled underneath, unsure of who you are now, what you need, or how to move forward - you don't have to carry that alone. Perhaps you've been holding it together for a long time. You're navigating the weight of past experiences that still show up in your relationships, your work, and your sense of self. You're ready to reflect, make sense of what's been hard, and begin shaping a future you actually want.

You might be feeling anxious, exhausted, low, tearful, on edge, numb, or in emotional or physical pain, or just coping day to day.
We go at your pace to make sense of what you’re experiencing and what you’d like to feel different. Together we agree what to focus on and review it regularly. I may offer grounding, movement or creative ideas, and simple understanding of stress and the nervous system. I support insight, strengths, and clearer decisions and ways forward.

I am here to support your healing process. Looking for a therapist is a courageous first step. I have found that common themes clients bring to therapy include: Feelings of shame and a lack of worthiness; being very self-critical; Feeling rejected, hurt, and alone; Stuck in relationships that are not fulfilling; Feeling that your life lacks purpose; Traumatic experiences that feel like they define you. Do any of these sound familiar? Would it help to have a space to work through these issues, to let go, and to feel greater freedom in your life? If any of these issues resonate with you then we can work together to make a difference.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
