Hello, I’m glad you’re here. You might be feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from yourself. Life can feel messy or heavy at times, and it can help to have a calm, steady space to pause, reflect, and make sense of what’s happening. I offer a warm, down-to-earth, non-judgemental space where you can safely explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. With a background in the performing arts, I also bring insight into the emotional demands of creative work, including responses around rejection, self-doubt, and the longing for validation. I offer support to explore what you’re going through with care and compassion.

I draw on established and evidence-based therapeutic approaches - person-centred, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), and neuroscience.
You look like you're holding it together on the outside. But inside something feels off. You're capable, thoughtful, used to being relied on but you feel anxious, empty, overwhelmed and misunderstood. Perhaps you’re questioning your direction, identity, or going through a loss or change. You’re worried about how others perceive you and want to understand why you fall back on the same patterns in relationships that lead to frustration, withdrawal or low self-esteem. You might be living by a set of rules you never consciously wrote and it’s driving self-doubt, guilt, or overthinking to the point you can’t switch off.

I'm a HCPC registered Art Therapist. Part of the support I offer is art therapy groups, which take place on Zoom with myself and co-therapist Anne Stegmann. Group members can be based anywhere across the UK. The online art therapy groups have been designed to provide a space for exploring thoughts, feelings and situations using art. Using creatively to detangle and make sense of our situations. The group format allows group members to join together, reflect and feel the support from each other. As time goes on the groups' connection will deepen, allowing this to become a powerfully connected, creative, safe space.

From exploring your experiences to empowering you with new insights, psychodynamic counselling supports you in embodying real transformation.
You understand your patterns, so why are you still stuck? You’ve done the thinking. You can see where it comes from. You might recognise the impact of past relationships or even childhood experiences. You are self-aware but still feel stuck! You might find yourself; replaying conversations, questioning your reactions, feeling emotionally pulled back into old dynamics, struggling to fully trust yourself Because insight alone doesn’t create change.

As a psychodynamic psychotherapist, I believe that today's problems can be rooted in lived experiences or past traumas.
I am a qualified psychotherapist. My practise offers a safe, supportive and confidential space to work through the material you bring to the session. I work within a range of areas. A few of these include trauma, difficult relationships, addictions, family issues, anxiety, depression and abuse (see below for more). We navigate together, at your pace, and unpick gently past wounds or present emotional states that effect your everyday. We seek to change negative patterns and encourage different ways of approaching problems. With empathetic exploration at the front of our work, we allow for healing.

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
