I am able to work with a variety of issues that may be prompting you to seek therapy: anxiety, depression , trauma, stress, work-related issues, bereavement, loss, self esteem, low mood, relationship issues.
I work in a relational way, treating each client as a unique individual with a unique set of circumstances. I aim to really understand what each person is dealing with. There are many different types of therapy that inform my work such as Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, and elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Sometimes words are not adequate to express how we are feeling, and so it can be useful to utilise creative techniques such as drawing or using the imagination. The space I offer is safe and non-judgemental. I aim to accept and support you in a warm and caring environment as you explore your inner thoughts and feelings.

A difficulty in a relationship or within the family? Whatever the cause, we can work together to unearth whatever is getting you down so that you can move on.

Often the root of desperation, loneliness, anxiety, relationship difficulties, transitional life circumstances and depression is rooted within the primacy of the first relationship.
“I believe psychotherapy and counselling is an art – and an art of holding, containing, exploring and making sense of one’s internal and external worlds. I provide compassionate, and creative analytical therapeutic support for those experiencing psychic suffering, distress and emotional pain. ”

I am a Child, adolescent & adult psychotherapist. I work with all age groups. We are all expected to make normal life changes that can be difficult for example, a school transition, change of job, relationship changes etc.  These can be quite challenging to manage. Then we have the uncertainties that are happening all around us right now with the pandemic & global change. Life is full of many uncertainties & quite often this can cause us to feel as though we are out of control leading to anxiety & stress.  I can help to manage the anxiety so that you feel back in control again enabling a much happier & fulfilled life.

I am a Clinical Psychologist and Psychodynamic psychotherapist, with extended experience of working with adults with long standing and complex mental health problems within and outside the NHS.  Life is challenging and can lead to periods of intense or prolonged distress. Our usual ways of coping may no longer seem to be helping or may become a problem in themselves. This can lead to anxiety, sadness, anger, feeling stuck, isolated and confused. Our relationships are often affected. Meeting with a trusted, experienced therapist, to explore and understand your feelings, whilst painful, can lead to huge relief and greater freedom.

We each have our own particular blend of resources and limitations, specific to us and unique as a fingerprint. That's why my therapeutic counselling doesn't provide 6-step plans, workbooks or programmes. It's open, free-flowing and exploratory. It takes the time to clear a regular safe space in which to unpack the events, relationships and emotions that you bring with you to this moment. To think about your feeling and feel your thinking. To talk, to laugh, to be tired, angry, uplifted or simply just to take the time to be. With compassion, empathy and without judgment.

For children and young people it can often be difficult to understand their own emotions or be able to express their thoughts. Sometimes this leads to overwhelming and confusing feelings, with behaviours that seems stuck, possibly resulting in low self-esteem and struggles with relationships. Counselling and creative therapy provides a safe and supportive space to explore emotions, feelings, develop an understanding of our thoughts whilst building communication skills and emotional resilience.

Depression Counsellors
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
