Women's Issues Counselling in Kingston upon Thames
My first training in therapy was ‘Person Centred’. This therapy places emphasis on providing a safe, empathic, non-judgemental space to discuss whatever is troubling you. I have come to specialise in Trauma and Complex PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder). EMDR is clinically proven to heal all kinds of traumatic experiences. More recently, I have begun to incorporate Internal Family Systems (IFS) theory into my practice as it helps to identify different parts of ourselves that can sometimes be in conflict.

Therapy is a process, a time dedicated towards growth and self-knowledge. To start therapy is not an easy step, so welcome! Sometimes stigma and social views towards mental health can be an obstacle in making the decision to start this process. If you are reading this, you may agree that whom is seeking therapy is suffering for a (very personal) reason and this is motivating to find the support you need to overcome your concerns and predicaments in life.

I am an experienced counsellor working with adults of all ages who are feeling overwhelmed or struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, trauma, or significant life transitions such as becoming a parent, adapting to the menopause or coping with getting older and retirement. You may be feeling stuck, disconnected, or unsure why things feel so hard right now.
I offer a warm, non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about your experience, including thoughts or feelings that may feel hard to share elsewhere. Together we can begin to make sense of what you’re experiencing.

“We often find that the harder we try to get rid of emotions and thoughts, the stronger they become.” Hi, I’m Lauren. As an experienced counsellor, I consider it a great privilege to walk alongside my clients on their therapeutic journey where every client is unique and there is a new opportunity for learning and growth. When you say "a part of me feels this…. But another part of me feels that…” you have already embraced the idea of Internal Family Systems Therapy, which as an integrative psychotherapist I use amongst other therapeutic modalities such as CBT, Person Centred Therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy, to support you.

The people I work with often come to therapy when something feels difficult to carry alone. They may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, anxious, low in mood, or trying to navigate a change or challenge in their life. They are often looking for a space to understand themselves better and make sense of what is happening beneath the surface.
I work alongside each person to understand their experiences, not just their symptoms. Together, we explore what has shaped them, what they want to change, and what might help them move forward in a way that feels authentic and manageable.

Your well-being is the heart of a life lived fully.
We often think of health as physical, but mental health is just as vital. Therapy is a gentle process of turning toward yourself with curiosity instead of judgement. It’s about building the self-awareness you need to create lasting change. You deserve a space where you don't have to carry that weight alone.
Whether you’ve been in therapy before or are taking a brave first step today, I know how daunting it feels to find the "right" person. My goal is to truly listen to the nuances of your life and tailor our sessions to meet you exactly where you are.

My approach to therapy is one where you can expect honesty, compassion, and real conversations that matter. I'll bring warmth, authenticity and the occasional laugh - because sometimes humour really is the best therapy.
We work together as a team. I’ll support you on your journey until you get where you need to be.
I’m a pluralistic counsellor which means I can draw from various therapeutic approaches (CBT, Person Centred & Pyschodynamic) to create a tailored experience that’s as unique as you are.

Many of the people I work with appear to be coping well on the outside but feel overwhelmed, anxious, exhausted, or stuck on the inside. They may be navigating relationship difficulties, grief, trauma, low self-esteem, life transitions, workplace stress, burnout, or questions about identity and purpose.
We will create a safe, supportive space to understand what is happening beneath the surface, make sense of difficult emotions, and develop the confidence, resilience, and self-awareness needed to move forward in ways that feel right for them.

My approach is shaped by the idea that we can begin from where we are, without needing to be perfect or have everything figured out. Often the things we struggle with make sense in the context of our lives, even if they no longer feel helpful now. I work in a relational way, taking time to understand what’s been happening for you rather than trying to move too quickly towards change.
