Psychotherapy is not a hierarchical relationship whereby the psychotherapist knows more than the client.
I don't believe that there is one method of psychotherapy that suits everyone. I believe in adapting my way of working for each client I meet. You may feel that you want to work short-term on a specific aspect of your life. You may feel that you want to take time to look back on your early life experiences or you may not know where to start or where you are going. Whatever your situation is, I will do my best to see the world as you do and, where possible, offer you an alternative perspective. I believe the same is true for children and using sand tray and art materials I allow children to process their emotions through play.

My first training in therapy was ‘Person Centred’. This therapy places emphasis on providing a safe, empathic, non-judgemental space to discuss whatever is troubling you. I have come to specialise in Trauma and Complex PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder). EMDR is clinically proven to heal all kinds of traumatic experiences. More recently, I have begun to incorporate Internal Family Systems (IFS) theory into my practice as it helps to identify different parts of ourselves that can sometimes be in conflict.

These difficulties could be linked to the way that you see yourself or to patterns in relationships that stop you getting what you want from life.
I have worked as clinical lead in a range of settings and have experience in working with many different issues, symptoms and psychiatric disorders. This experience enables me to help you to get to the heart of your difficulties and to help you to understand the underlying cause. Most of us would change if we could and therapy can help to understand the things that we're not aware of that stop us from living life more fully and feeling better about ourselves.

Your well-being is the heart of a life lived fully.
We often think of health as physical, but mental health is just as vital. Therapy is a gentle process of turning toward yourself with curiosity instead of judgement. It’s about building the self-awareness you need to create lasting change. You deserve a space where you don't have to carry that weight alone.
Whether you’ve been in therapy before or are taking a brave first step today, I know how daunting it feels to find the "right" person. My goal is to truly listen to the nuances of your life and tailor our sessions to meet you exactly where you are.

Their aims may include alleviating symptoms of distress, improving relationships, developing confidence, or processing past trauma.
Originally trained in Person-Centred Therapy, I now integrate different approaches depending on your needs. The first session explores your reasons for counselling, identify how your problems are affecting your thoughts, feelings, emotions and behaviour on a day-to-day basis and agree on the priorities. Thereafter, I will work with you to implement changes.

FAQ - About Couples Therapy
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
