I have been counselling since 1997 offering clients the opportunity to explore, understand and change. I am an integrative therapist and I always aim to adapt my approach to suit client needs. I can offer short term counselling or work to a more open ended agenda. I spent twenty years working at Relate where I developed skills that have enabled me to work with a broad range of client needs. I can offer counselling to individuals, couples, young people and families. I work from my own office in the village of Rock in North Worcestershire.

I believe we are all susceptible, at some point in our lives, to feeling overwhelmed by what life can bring. Sometimes we encounter experiences that are hard for us to come to terms with leaving us in need of support, this may be in the form of a bereavement, a relationship breakdown, a job loss; any event that we struggle to comprehend and understand. Other times a series of events may have taken place that leave us feeling like we are walking under a big black cloud and fail to see a way forward. At times like this counselling can help.

My name is Jackie and I am a very experienced, fully qualified Counsellor, based in Stourport, Worcestershire. We all experience emotional times in our lives which we can struggle to make sense of, or to cope with. This can lead to many different feelings which can include stress, anxiety and depression; low self worth and an overwhelming sense of hopelessness . I offer my clients the opportunity to explore those often painful or challenging aspects of their lives in a safe, friendly and trusting environment, helping them to feel at ease and that they are not alone in exploring life challenges without being judged.

Hi and welcome to my profile! I am a fully accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) with the BABCP. We can all experience difficult times in our lives that we may require help and support with.  When we experience distress we can often have negative feelings and thoughts which can influence how we might behave or deal with a certain situation. We can often find ourselves in a vicious cycle of negative thoughts and behaviours that can be hard to break.  CBT works on a 'here and now' basis, exploring your current difficulties and give you effective coping strategies to be able to make changes in your life and move forwards.

Are you struggling at the moment, and it feels that you're the only one having a tough time? Or are you recognising that you want to do things differently, but don't know what that might be, or where to start? If you'd like to start working out how to start moving towards a different future, one where you can be in control of your choices, then talking therapy may be of benefit, by helping you to untangle your feelings, explore the past, talk through different options or simply to listen while you work out what's next.

It is impossible for any of us to escape the ever increasing challenges in our lives and when things get on top of us, whatever the cause it can help to talk to someone not directly involved in your day to day life. Counselling is somewhere for you to be heard and offers a confidential and private space where you can think about and discuss your thoughts, emotions, events and relationships allowing you to work through these and make sense of your choices. Talking with a professional gives you the opportunity to explore challenging issues and obtain coping strategies for the future.

I'm passionate about helping people to resolve their problems and achieve their goals. This is therapy not simply to understand yourself, manage your emotions or control your behaviour but, rather, to resolve therapeutic problems permanently by identifying the biographical origins and 'relearning' the experience. The main approach used, Relearning Experience Process, is a brief, solution-focused therapy requiring only a few consultations to achieve complete resolution. I have 23 years' experience helping people overcome OCD , PTSD, childhood abuse, depression, social anxiety, lack of confidence or assertiveness and need for approval.

Life can throw all sorts of things at us, and can leave impressions in us that are very unhelpful. People come to see me for all sorts of reasons. I meet clients who have anxiety, which shows itself in so many ways, like panic attacks, intrusive negative thoughts, obsessive /compulsive behaviour or even fears about something they want or need to do in their work or social life. They might have lost confidence in themselves and their skills, or feel that they need to develop and improve some aspect of themselves, such as their self-worth. Sometimes it's a single issue, like grief - or complex, like depression, anger or relationship.

Life often presents us with challenges and each one of us develops their own ways of dealing with adversities. Sometimes, however, we might feel ‘lost’, incongruent with how we would like to be, how we would like to relate with others and engage with life. Our difficulties may present themselves in different forms and we often use words such as depression, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, panic, phobia, obsessive -compulsive disorder, trauma, relationship difficulties, sexuality concerns, grief and loss to describe our experience.

I found my way to being a Psychologist because I am deeply curious about people and what makes us ‘tick’ and I struggle to see suffering without doing something to help. For most of my week, I work for the NHS in the Complex Needs Service, with people who have experienced trauma and who have complex emotional needs. I am also a DBT Therapist in our NHS Trust’s small DBT Service. Whether you're looking for help with serious mental health difficulties or you're just feeling stuck and struggling with motivation, Psychological Therapy can help!

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Counsellors
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is an anxiety disorder in which people have unwanted and repeated thoughts, feelings, ideas, sensations (obsessions), or behaviours that make them feel driven to do something (compulsions). It affects children, kids, teens and adults. Often the person carries out the behaviours to get rid of the obsessive thoughts, but this only provides temporary relief. Not performing the obsessive rituals can cause great anxiety. A person's level of OCD can be anywhere from mild to severe, but if severe and left untreated, it can destroy a person's capacity to function at work, at school or even to lead a comfortable existence in the home.
