I am a young people’s counsellor, working with clients aged 13-30. We all experience life differently, not one person’s life is the same as another. You may be experiencing anxiety at school or work. Worrying about upcoming deadlines or exams. You may have uncertainty about who you are and feel or think negatively about yourself. You may be feeling burnout and want to build a good work/life balance. It can be hard to recognise and manage everything on our own. I can offer you a confidential, non-judgemental space to feel heard. Together we can identify your triggers and develop coping strategies to help you face your challenges.

Life doesn't really go as expected and finding the right support is key to move forward. I use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in combination with Systemic therapy allowing a tailored approach based on clients needs. CBT is aimed to support clients identifying the triggers and the dynamics that hide behind their difficulties, learning coping strategies to deal with them. Systemic therapy is often considered an approach to treat families and groups however, it also effectively apply to individuals.

As an experienced counsellor, clinical supervisor and lecturer my aim is to provide positive and solution-focused outcomes from therapy. While I provide general counselling services, I specialise in working with children and young people who suffer from a broad range of mental health presentations.  These include low mood, depression, anxiety, disordered eating and those affected by sexual abuse, as well as those on the autistic spectrum. My core belief is that good therapy is an emotional as well as a financial investment.  My approach is therefore one of bespoke collaboration and regular assurance, involving the whole family.

Reaching out for therapy can be a huge step. Sometimes a particular experience leads us to access therapy, sometimes we want to explore big themes in our lives or to change how we relate to others. Often, we can benefit from exploring these areas and the impact of them on our day to day life and relationships.

At any time in our lives events can take over leaving us feeling anxious or depressed; or early negative experiences or trauma can replay in our mind, causing distress. My belief is that each individual is the person best placed to make the right decisions about themselves, however, there are times when we can lose sight of who we are and feel taken over by negative thoughts, feelings and responses that seem to work at odds with the life we want to lead. Counselling can help to make sense of these thoughts, feelings and responses and explore options for change by providing a safe space where you will be heard and respected.

I am a very experienced therapist and Depth Psychologist having worked within the NHS and Private Practice for 30 years. I am a Senior Jungian Analyst, a Training Analyst, an Examiner and Supervisor. I specialise in working with people experiencing relationship difficulties, those suffering from depression, anxiety, low self esteem and intrusive thoughts. An emotional crisis is a call for personal growth, for insight and to a new path through life. The belief that symptoms have meaning leads to a more positive approach and outcome, so that suffering is not in vain but the prelude to a more meaningful life.

The ultimate gift we can give another person is to understand them deeply. The art of connecting with others is a skill I have honed, which enables me a better understanding of my clients needs, and issues. My clients matter to me, it is a privilege to walk side by side at their pace as I see their relationship with self increase along with self awareness. An attuned and compassionate relationship with my clients is the key to psychological growth and transformation.

Counselling can be a wonderful experience and give you the opportunity to be open and honest in a safe and non judgemental space. However, I also understand that making that step to try counselling can be scary and daunting. I will offer you this safe space so that you feel able to talk about what is on your mind, whether that be past, present or future difficulties or concerns. In an often busy and loud world, we can often find it difficult to hear and connect with our own voice. Giving ourselves the space and time to connect with this voice can lead us to a better understanding of ourselves and our world around us.

Do you feel overwhelmed by the many things you could be doing, leaving you anxious and stressed when you can’t do them all? Maybe procrastination and perfectionism make it hard to get things done, adding to your stress. Is it challenging to maintain a routine and stay consistent, leading to frustration and feeling worse? Does life feel all-or-nothing, and you’re struggling to find balance? Maybe you bottle up your feelings, worrying about being a burden to others? Are you looking for balance, routine, and relief from anxiety to lead a more fulfilling lifestyle?
