Clients have come to me for many different reasons. From dealing with past traumas, connecting with their emotions and understanding their reactions, to working on a better sense of self and building confidence. Each client comes to therapy seeking a safe and non-judgmental space to unpack their thoughts and emotions. They often come because they don't feel heard in their day-to-day life, or need somewhere to explore emotions without fear of reactions or feelings of guilt.

Have you reached a point where you sense you just can’t carry on feeling this way? Maybe it’s a recent breakup, or a build up of feelings that’s just all become too much to cope with on your own. Perhaps you are carrying a silent pain that you wish the people around you could see. Maybe you are tired of not feeling understood by those closest to you. I wonder if you have lost your trust in others, and reaching out for help often feels impossible. I specialize in working with people to make sense of their past and how it is affecting the present. You are really not alone, and I would like to help, your feelings do matter.

Maybe you are struggling at present to understand why things are the way they are? Sometimes we can all get stuck in patterns of relating, both with ourselves and others, that are not the most helpful or productive. Sometimes this means our relationships might suffer, or our life, career and family choices. Having therapy with an experienced practitioner can help you. Therapy is about building a shared understanding of what you are facing. If you are struggling with trauma, family issues, career issues, relationships, abuse, coping difficulties, I can help. I am also happy working with children and adolescents

We are all able to agree that our physical health is variable, but it may be much harder to admit that our psychological health is in constant flux. All too often, we find ourselves buying into the idea of the "stiff upper lip": that "mental health issues" affect only other people - and "weak people", at that! It can be very daunting, therefore, to recognise that we need help and then to take steps to find a professional who will help things improve. I understand those concerns, because I've been there: and I also have experience of the positive effects of psychotherapy - from both sides of the consulting-room!

I can be there for you to share these experiences without judgement o and help you make sense of what is happening now or what has happened in the past . I provide a calm, safe space, in which you can feel open to exploring what is going on with you and how you are feeling. I offer EMDR, CBT and Couples Counselling therapy and the aim is to help you to regain a sense of wellbeing and enjoyment in your life. During the initial assessment we will work together to understand your main problems, what is keeping you 'stuck' and then agree on an individualised treatment plan to help you move forward with clear treatment goals. CBT is an effective treatment that can help you in the here and now and EMDR is useful for getting to the root of the problem. I find that both work well, in different ways to bring about an improvement in emotional and physical health.
