Counselling and creative therapy offers a safe and supportive space to explore emotions, and develop an understanding of their thought patterns whilst building communication skills and emotional resilience.
Each child is unique, in what they have experienced, and how they respond to the world around them. Therapy is therefore tailored to their needs through play, creativity or talking, always grounded in a deep understanding of the young brain and the relevant developmental stages and challenges.

I draw on my years of experience to create a therapy space where you can talk or use art materials to express your feelings, and where we can begin to make sense of them.
I am experienced and compassionate psychodynamic therapist who has worked extensively in both the private sector and NHS since 2001. I have spent many hours working with people that are struggling with distress and helplessness, anxiety and loss, depression and isolation. Many people feel troubled by aspects of the past that they have been unable to resolve or move past. I offer a confidential, safe and private therapy space where you will be listened to and where we can think together about your difficulties and how they affect you.

I support people to make positive changes so they can heal, thrive and live fulfilling and meaningful lives. Its time to become the person you have always wanted to be! Discovering what is important for you as an individual and learning to identify and use your inner resources to cope in times of stress, anxiety, bereavement, depression and emotional upheaval such as divorce, redundancy or retirement are just a few of the benefits of counselling. Often just talking through a traumatic experience or difficult feelings with another person can be incredibly therapeutic and will empower you to reach your potential.

I specialise in issues related to relationships, identity (sexuality, gender, neurodiversity, sobercuriosity, feeling lost in a new life stage), and long-lasting or unexplained health conditions (e.g. burnout, ME/CFS, impactful diagnoses which are hard to treat).
If these resonate and you've been in a space of uncertainty or stuckness lately - on who you are, how you relate to others, what you want out of life - you are not alone, and you don’t have to figure it all out by yourself. I offer a warm, affirming space where uncertainty is not something to “fix,” but an invitation to explore with curiosity and compassion.

Clients approach me when they are seeking greater fulfilment in their lives. Anxiety, fear, and stress, can sometimes affect the relationship we have with ourselves and others . Clients always need to know that they are listened to and taken seriously. This is achieved by helping clients to become more tolerant and kinder to themselves. This is what I believe is the basis to my style of Psychotherapy.

Creative Therapy Counsellors
How does art therapy work?
The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.
Does art therapy help with trauma?
Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.
How long does art therapy last?
The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.
What are the limitations of art therapy?
Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioural therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
