I have extensive professional, and lived experience of neurodiversity (ADHD, Autism, Dyspraxia etc.) and how it can impact on mental health, whether you're aware of it or questioning.
Feeling lost, constantly on edge with anxiety or like you don't fit in? Or maybe you have a pattern of struggling with relationships, and communication and not sure why? I've been there and I've helped many others who have too. This is a space where you can breathe, talk freely, be heard and understood. I bring my true self to sessions, focusing on building a therapeutic relationship where you feel safe and comfortable to be fully you too. Our aim is to increase your self-esteem, awareness, and authenticity, by letting out the things holding you down - the trauma, the people or your past self.

I currently work with Young Adults, Teenagers and Children (8+). I like to work together collaboratively in a way that allows empowerment and feels right for you. I provide 1 to 1 talking therapy in person and outdoor walk and talk therapy in nature. I also provide online therapy by zoom. Working online offers greater accessibility if you are very busy or have physical limitations. It also provides a more private and comfortable experience as in person therapy can sometimes feel too much.

All of us have our periods of struggle. Life has a habit of throwing things at us - stress, loss, bereavement, anxiety, relationship troubles - that can throw us off course.
Relationships are tough; work and family too. But you don't have to manage it all on your own. Talking to me about your anxiety, depression, anger, stress, addictions or loss can help plot a path through life's difficult times and rediscover yourself.
Working together in a calm, focused way, we can understand your unique patterns and needs, find coping strategies, and look at ways to change the things we can, and accept the things we can't.

As a neurodivergent practitioner myself, I bring lived as well as professional experience to my understanding of neurodivergence and difference.
I work with adults who may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck or exhausted, navigating change, or questioning who they are and what they want next. You might be experiencing anxiety, burnout or difficulties around work, relationships, identity or neurodivergence, or simply know that something no longer feels right. You don't need to arrive knowing exactly what's wrong. Together, we'll look more closely at your experiences, relationships and wider context, developing a deeper understanding of what's happening and exploring what that understanding might make possible.

Hi, I'm Katie, one of the three founders of Creative 4 You. I am an art therapist practicing in the Leeds and Wakefield area. Art Therapy does not need anyone to be "good" at art, or knowledgeable about art. That's my job, I can guide you in how to use materials, or support you in achieving the "thing" that you want to produce, I will also gently nudge you to push yourself a little bit. Through the art making process, you can learn coping strategies tailored to you and your nervous system responses. You can learn to trust yourself and your ability to make decisions, helping to build self esteem.

With a background in SEND Education and as a parent of two autistic children, I understand that the process needs to be as stress-free as possible.
Play Therapy supports children with challenging behaviour, mental health difficulties, or adverse experiences. It doesn’t rely on words and the children do not need emotional literacy to express or process their experiences and begin to move forward. It goes at their own pace and the children move past difficult experiences without being overwhelmed.

Autism Counsellors
What is the most effective treatment for autism?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) has come to be considered the standard treatment for children with autism spectrum disorder, and research has confirmed its effectiveness for many children. Therapists trained in ABA techniques work with children (and their parents) on developing social skills, communication and learning abilities, and everyday habits of hygiene and grooming. The clinician will tailor their program to the child’s particular need but the overarching goal will be to help them advance as far as possible toward independence based on their level of symptoms and decrease the need for additional special services. Families should seek a mental health professional specifically trained in ABA, and holding special certification in the technique, who has extensive experience not only with the approach but in using it with children with the same level of symptoms as the child who needs care.
How does ABA work?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) sessions, which typically focus on positive reinforcement, can be intensive, lasting two or more hours several times a week, and continuing for two years or more. Therapists can also be expected to ask parents to take an active role in reinforcing lessons. Research has found that the technique can lead to major improvements that decrease the need for additional special services.
How does treatment for autism work?
Therapy sessions based on Applied Behavior Analysis will likely be frequent, intensive, and highly structured. After a thorough assessment, a therapist will help a child understand and develop skills in a range of areas, including communication, motor skills, social skills, self-care, play, and academic skills, as well as routines of daily living like hygiene. Typically, the therapist will help a child break down the components of a behavior—often referred to as the antecedent (what prompts an action), the behavior, and the consequence(what immediately follows)—and then reward the child at every step, while also asking parents to reinforce the lessons, and the rewards, throughout the day. This core therapy may be supplemented by occupational or speech therapy, and antidepressants, antipsychotics, and anticonvulsants may be prescribed to address specific severe symptoms.
How long does therapy for autism take?
Some people with autism spectrum disorder may be engaged in some level of therapy for many years, but research shows that treatment will be most effective if it is begun early and delivered intensively. When therapy begins by age 3, children tend to be better able to grasp and adopt the skills needed to manage everyday life, including attending school and establishing social relationships. This type of early-intervention treatment regimen is highly structured, typically involving 20 to 40 hours of one-on-one therapy per week, along with additional hours of engagement managed by parents, for a period of two years or more, although the duration of treatment is dependent on the child’s level of symptoms and pace of progress.
