Sometimes it’s hard to know where to turn, life can feel very overwhelming and exhausting. It can be lots of wee things or a big life change and sometimes we just can’t put our finger on it. What we do know is that we’ve had enough, we want to enjoy life and relationships and bring more lightness and laughter into the everyday. Maybe work is getting us down or family and relationships. How good would it be to feel more at ease? In therapy we can explore together to find a way through the fog.

I am an expert in relational dynamics, narcissistic behaviour, sexual, emotional and mental abuse, grief, depression, addictions and infidelity.
Feeling SAD, CONFUSED and/or ANGRY? Feeling stuck/trapped? What's the point? Nothing changes? I know the fears of opening up emotionally or mentally. I also know now of how beneficial it is for YOU. To have time to understand your 'self' so that YOU can process and heal, change YOUR future. It's empowering. I have studied for 6 years, to Masters level. Committed to my own personal development. Losing nearly three stone in weight (an emotional eater). Unattached from drinking 5 times a week to now occasionally socially or sometimes I just drink water and ice! Smoking and a fitter body is next. YOU are important! Take control back!

In Couple's work, we can explore intimacy, attachment styles, conflict resolution, affairs, communication and blended families.
I work with couples and my aim is to help you to move forwards in the way that works for both of you. This may be improving communication between you both, recognising and changing patterns of behaviour or working through conflict. This can be an important time for you both to proactively work on your intimate relationship. This can be a protected time and space for you to express your thoughts and be heard. Communication, resentment, intimacy and differing parenting styles are some of the themes that I regularly work with. Our work is focussed on your relationship, whilst also respecting your separate needs.

My work has supported those facing multiple struggles, notably: grief, depression, loneliness, infidelity, the processing of new diagnoses, anxiety, suicidal ideation, self-esteem struggles, relationship complexities, and control around alcohol, weight and compulsive behaviours.
I work anti-diagnostically, believing that these behaviours often make sense in the context of your life, but that together, the therapeutic relationship can help you develop an understanding about where these behaviours and thoughts originate, and how you might develop more helpful behaviours in the future.

My professional journey spans over two decades. I've dedicated over 20 years to the field of education, where I have played a crucial role in supporting children's mental health to foster resilience. This experience includes two years as a school counsellor and mental health lead, providing students with the guidance and support they need to overcome their challenges. I've also spent five years as a divorce coach, assisting couples and individuals as they navigate the often difficult process of separation and divorce.

Infidelity Counsellors

How does therapy for infidelity work?

A skilled infidelity therapist will provide a safe space for clients to communicate their feelings and concerns. The goal is to be completely honest about what led to the cheating and how it has affected the entire family to prevent it from recurring in the future. The therapist will help the clients work on rebuilding mutual trust and respect and developing better communication and conflict-resolution skills. If the goal is to remain a couple, clients will learn the “danger signs” for their specific relationship, and they will make a renewed commitment to be faithful.

How long does therapy for infidelity take?

Recovery from infidelity can take time, and it can vary from person to person. Generally, a therapist will want to see the clients at least once a week for around six months. Then the sessions can be arranged as needed, depending on the clients’ individual needs. While therapy may end or shift to an as-needed basis, it can take up to two years or more for some clients to fully recover from infidelity.

How does therapy help the partner who was cheated on?

When a client discovers their partner’s infidelity, their trust in the relationship and in the life they had together may be shattered. They often experience mental health symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, grief, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They don’t always want to stay in the relationship; they may feel ambivalent or may even want to leave. Therapy gives these clients a safe and healthy way to communicate all of their complicated emotions and concerns.

How does therapy help the partner who committed infidelity?

Infidelity often occurs when one or both partners’ emotional needs are not being met in the relationship. Therapy can help this client understand why they cheated and figure out how to address those unmet needs without resorting to infidelity in the future. This can lessen (but not entirely eliminate) the risk of repeated infidelity. Clients who cheat may also feel intense guilt about deceiving their partners, a sentiment that they can work through in therapy.
