I have extensive work with children and adolescents for 30 years (primary teacher) and for the past 11 years I have worked amongst families who are Neurodiverse, Autistic/ ADHD and support siblings , both children and adults.
If you are looking for counselling services that specialise in neurodiversity, additional needs and siblings support, reach out today. Young people deserve to be heard, understood and supported on their journey to wellbeing. Parenting is challenging in the best of circumstances—even neurotypical children have immature self-regulation. But parenting a neurodivergent child is rewarding but also can be a different category of challenges. Having lived experience as a parent, a young person's unhappiness permeates to the whole family. Counselling not only supports your young person but also the wellbeing of the whole family too.

I also work with late diagnosed or self diagnosed Autistic and ADHD individuals and I am a member of the Safe Space Alliance for LGBTQIA communities.
It’s scary admitting to yourself that you need help; and that you’re struggling with whatever is causing you to feel unhappy, dysregulated or distressed. Due to stigma, people feel that they can only access therapy when they are at breaking point; when in fact you can access therapy whenever you need to. My background is in working with abuse survivors, and those who have experienced trauma. As a result I work with narcissism, depression, low self esteem, shame, loneliness, hopelessness, grief & loss, anger, self harm and suicidal feelings as well as a broad range of other factors and experiences clients bring to their sessions.

Clinical services include: neurodevelopmental & family assessment; autism assessment; ADHD assessment; assessment of intellectual ability; and brief neurodevelopmental intervention.
Diagnostic assessments are all conducted in line with national guidance and delivered in a timely way, meaning that families do not have to wait to receive a robust diagnostic decision. However, my approach is focused on understanding the individual, not just their diagnosis, which allows for meaningful recommendations and ongoing support.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioural therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
