What do you want the next page of your life to read like? In working with me you will experience an opportunity to reflect on the things that are important for you. Most people wish to understand the big W’s in life “who what where, when & WHY” let’s not forget the honorary HOW! These things may show up in behaviour, thoughts or feelings about yourself or towards others and from others. You will also experience a commitment from me that allows for consistency of dressing themes that you bring. Be it long or short term work, we will work on creating a space that allows you to experience a connection that makes it ok to be you.

Let's be honest life can be challenging at times and we don't always know what to do with it. We all move through periods where we feel lonely, overwhelmed by anxiety, weighed down by low mood, or frustrated and angry at the world around us. These feelings can be exhausting, and they can make even simple things feel harder than they should. Do you pretend you’re fine and push your feelings down, too afraid to say what’s really bothering you or what feels wrong? Have you been carrying that for a while—ready to let go of that feeling that something just isn’t right?

I have a particular interest in working with clients of African and African-Caribbean heritage, especially those with experiences of separation, abandonment, displacement, and spiritual or religious conflict. My work is informed by an awareness of the ongoing systemic barriers these communities often face in accessing mental health support, and the impact this can have on identity, belonging, and wellbeing. At the same time, my intercultural orientation emphasises dialogue across cultures, allowing me to navigate issues of sameness and difference with curiosity and sensitivity.

Do you often feel broken? Or feel like you're never enough? These common thoughts often cross many of our minds, yet some of us are unable to shake it off. Some may feel it’s all they have ever lived with, this sense of not being enough for those around us. Having poor confidence and low self-esteem can be debilitating to live with. Daily life can become crippled with anxiety. You may find you always talk down or minimise yourself and struggle take pride in anything you do. As a qualified therapist with 9 years experience in CBT, I take great pride in my job and believe it is a privilege to be able to help and support others.

Welcome. If you’re stressed, depressed, facing a life change or loss, or need to make a major decision, it can be helpful to talk to someone outside your family and friendship circle. Sometimes acknowledging you need help can be the hardest first step. You’re looking for a therapist who feels right for you and can help see things in a new light. We may explore your history, and find ways to understand yourself or to cope. You might be young or older - it's never too late to discover yourself and make the changes in your life that you want. We'll work collaboratively, at your own pace.

Hi I’m Swaliha. I strongly believe counselling is for everyone. Together, in a non-judgemental space we can dedicate time to exploring your difficulties and establish what you would like to gain from counselling and life itself. People choose to start psychotherapy because of the struggles they face; often there is pain, sadness, suffering and loss with a sense of being stuck in it. It may be that you feel alone, unfulfilled, depressed or anxious or perhaps you have experienced a trauma which continues to affect you. We can work through these difficulties and others together safely.

You have spent a long time being "fine". Capable, dependable, holding it together, while closeness feels harder than it should and something underneath goes unspoken. I work with men on exactly this: the shame that sits quietly beneath the surface, the pull between who you are and who you were raised to be, the relationship patterns that keep repeating however hard you try. None of it means something is wrong with you. You learned to relate this way for good reasons, and what is learned can be reworked. My particular focus is South Asian men, though I work with men of all backgrounds, and with South Asian adults more widely.

I provide an integrative counselling experience. This means I utilise aspects of several models of therapy to suit individual circumstances. It is unrealistic to expect one model of therapy to work for everyone therefore, having access to several models provides an approach that may be tailored to each individual's needs. Therapy should be a collaborative experience where we work together to find the right solutions. In doing so, I hope to find long-term answers for those tired of the 'revolving door' experience of counselling with symptoms being temporarily relieved but continually recurring.

Maybe you’re functioning on the outside, but inside you feel overwhelmed, stuck, burnt out, or quietly unhappy. You might be carrying a lot – work pressure, family responsibility, relationship strain – while feeling disconnected from yourself or unsure what you really need. I’m a qualified relational, humanistic psychotherapist offering therapy in Sevenoaks (Kent), central London and online. I work with people who want to understand themselves more deeply and find a way through anxiety, low mood, shame, grief, life transitions, and the feeling of “something not being right” even when life looks fine on paper.

You're a male in your 30s or 40s, experiencing stress, overwhelm, and anxiety and it's affecting your performance and your relationships, with your wife and your children. Bottom line, you're not happy and you don't have the bandwidth to deal with everything and everyone. Your ways of coping, avoiding people, staying out or up late, and overeating or using substances as a way to soothe and escape are now causing more harm than good. It's time to change things.

When we are lost and unable to see the way forward, sometimes the wisest course of action is to stop. Resistance is as important as acceptance. Resistance tells us something essential about how you have experienced the world around you, and what you have needed to do in order to survive it. Our wounding forms protective structures around us, and these parts deserve compassion rather than judgement. Through acknowledgement of pain, and through compassionate enquiry into the parts of ourselves formed to protect us from it, fertile ground for change can emerge. By standing still, we can move forward.

Men's Issues Counsellors
Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.

How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.

What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
