While I work in other areas, I specialise in intimacy issues including sex and kink positivity, sex addiction and mens work.
You may feel stuck in repeating cycles—around addiction, relationships, or intimacy—even though you understand your patterns and genuinely want things to change. Shame, attachment wounds, or codependency often sit underneath, leaving you longing for connection, self-acceptance, and a sense of freedom. Many of the people I work with feel tired of looking outside themselves for answers and are ready to begin a more grounded, authentic kind of healing. Most people come to therapy feeling unsure or ambivalent — often that’s exactly where meaningful change begins....

I offer queer-affirming, sex-positive & kink-aware therapy online across the UK, with particular experience in ENM / polyamory.
Hi! I’m Ro (they/them). You might be navigating jealousy, attachment anxiety, communication breakdown, or feeling stuck in relational patterns that keep repeating. Perhaps you're exploring ethical non-monogamy (ENM), polyamory, or questioning monogamy, and want relationships that feel honest and sustainable. You may feel disconnected from yourself, carrying old relational wounds, struggling with emotional regulation, or unsure how past experiences are shaping intimacy now. You’re looking for space to slow down, untangle what’s happening, and build more secure, intentional ways of relating.

I work with adults who are outwardly functioning but feel stuck, disconnected, or caught in repeating patterns, often in relationships, intimacy, or their sense of self. My approach is psychoanalytic and psychodynamic, focusing on understanding difficulties at the root rather than offering quick fixes. I work in a client-led, non-pathologising and inclusive way and have extensive experience with LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent clients. I also work comfortably with questions around sexuality and intimacy, including areas people may feel anxious or ashamed about. Sessions in Hove and online.

Difficulties with sex, intimacy or relationships can be confusing, frustrating, or isolating, and it’s not always easy to talk about them. You may be struggling with desire, performance, pleasure, or confidence, or noticing how anxiety, shame, body image, or past experiences are impacting your relationship with sex. Some common issues I work with are low or mismatched desire, sexual pain (including vaginismus), orgasmic difficulties, erectile or ejaculation concerns, and many more. I also support those navigating communication challenges, attachment patterns, and major life transitions such as IVF and postpartum changes.

My aim is to help reduce the power of whatever is holding you back and support greater self acceptance and understanding both of yourself, the people in your life and the world around you. My style is informal, honest, and compassionate, creating a safe space for exploration and growth. Through open and authentic dialogue, we will build a strong therapeutic relationship that supports meaningful change. Our relationship is central to the work. I won’t tell you what to do, but I may offer resources when appropriate. You will lead the pace, direction, and focus, while I'll accompany you and gently guide the process.

Am LGBTQ+ and kink friendly and aware.
If you've got problems, I can help.. As a therapist I am happiest when I am genuinely able to make a difference to someone and help them feel better. I have had a great deal of experience of working with many different people, each one of them with their own unique story, and their own way of seeing the world, each one of them also with the problems that sometimes arise for all of us as human beings trying to live the best we can. Maybe you feel anxious and don't know why? Perhaps you've had things happen that are still affecting you?

Bringing an openness to therapy and a willingness to explore vulnerability and inner strength are the values my ideal client will bring to the therapeutic relationship. Anxiety and depression are illnesses that often cause my clients to seek therapy. Needing to be heard and sharing unconscious emotions becomes the concentration of sessions. Positively assessing initial presenting ssues and the next step forward.

A warm hello to you, as you search for support. The search itself can be stressful, on top of whatever you're already struggling with. When life is difficult, some things can be too hard or futile to carry alone. 20 years of experience has consistently proven to me (and my clients) that talking with someone trained to really listen can make a profound difference. I’ve been accompanying people for a long time. I've heard, understood, supported and facilitated a lot. It's an honour to be someone you can lean on, who you can risk being honest with. I'm there as you find your way to a steadier, clearer, more peaceful sense of yourself.

Sex-Positive, Kink Allied Counsellors
Why might an individual want to see a sex-positive, kink-allied therapist?
A sex-positive or kinky individual may want to see a sex-positive, kink-allied therapist because the client may feel safer and more supported discussing their experiences and challenges. A therapist who identifies as kink-friendly will have experience with clients having diverse sexual preferences and will likely be nonjudgmental and supportive about issues brought to the table. It is important to note that sex-positive, kink-allied individuals may find equal success with therapists who do not have such specialised knowledge and background. The most important factor in the success of therapy is for the client and practitioner to form a strong, trusting bond.

Do therapists have special training to gain expertise in sex-positive, kink-allied treatment?
Generally, no. There are limited training programs and unofficial accreditations that therapists can pursue, but a therapist’s expertise will ultimately come from their previous experience with similar clients, their engagement with organisations that promote sex positivity or kink-allied lifestyles, and the importance they place on safety and cultural sensitivity.

How can individuals recognise a good sex-positive, kink-allied therapist?
An experienced therapist is able to help clients explore their sexual identity and expression and relieve any discomfort or stigma attached to discussing such matters and the client’s overall challenges. A therapist who is sex-positive and kink-allied is able to create an environment that honors a client’s experience and sexual preferences. To recognise a good therapist, clients can simply ask directly about topics and issues important to them and gauge their comfort level and connection with a clinician based on the responses.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist with a focus on sex positivity and alternative sexual lifestyles?
Some individuals may feel most comfortable knowing that the clinician they’re working with has a commitment to creating an atmosphere of sex positivity and has experience with relationship diversity and alternative relationship structures. Working with a sex-positive, kink-allied therapist may help clients respect their own challenges and improve identity-affirming treatment.
