My therapeutic approach is best described as ‘Integrative’ which means that I bring together different schools of thought such as Psychodynamic, Gestalt, Humanistic, Existential and the Transpersonal. This enables me to draw upon a wide range of therapeutic styles which I tailor to your specific individual needs. I take a holistic approach which means I provide support that looks at the whole person, not just your mental health needs; I also consider your physical, emotional, social/sexual and spiritual wellbeing as an individual. Therapy can be an intimidating experience, especially if you are not sure where to start.

As an integrative psychotherapist (BACP accredited) and EMDR therapist, I draw on a combination of different approaches, so that the therapy is tailored to each client's individual needs. My clients are often seeking healing from addiction, relationship struggles, or intimacy challenges. They often carry attachment wounds, shame, or patterns of codependency and feel stuck in repeating cycles. They long for connection, self-acceptance, and freedom from old patterns. Their goal is to build healthier relationships—with themselves and others—by finding self-compassion, forgiveness, and responsibility. They want to live authentically, grounded in their body and values, because they’re ready to stop looking outside themselves and start transforming from within.

Coming to counselling allows you to the space and time to think deeply about yourself and your relationships. I hope to help you do this in a warm, open and thoughtful way. The focus of our sessions is your needs which we will talk about throughout our work. We may consider patterns of relating to others, particularly those patterns of which you are unaware. Often our work together will explore how past experiences might be affecting the present and how your internal world, often built for the past, can unhelpfully affect important aspects of your day-to-day life.

I am an experienced psychoanalytic psychotherapist and a BACP-accredited psychodynamic counsellor. I believe that no issue is too small nor too great to bring to therapy – if it causes you pain, you will benefit from opening up about it in the long run. I believe everyone’s internal world needs to be approached with curiosity and openness. My approach is rooted in traditional psychoanalysis but progressive and affirmative of diversity and individual expression. It is suitable for adults of all ages and backgrounds and also LGBTQ/kink and poly-friendly.

At different stages in our lives, we encounter difficulties that prevent us from fully enjoying life. It can be anything from anxiety and depression, to the loss of a person (through death or relationship breakdown), to deeply rooted emotional issues (such as low self-esteem or inability to form relationships). Other times, we are unable to fully explain what is troubling us - we just know that something is. Asking for help can be difficult - finding the right kind of help and support can be more challenging. With each person and difficulty being unique, I tailor my approach to suit each client's needs and communication style.

At times life can be difficult. Sometimes it may feel like life isn’t moving forward and you keep repeating the same old patterns and nothing changes. You may be dwelling on the past or worried about the present or the future. You may just be in a place of general unhappiness where you just don’t know what to do. In developing a better understanding of ourselves, increasing our awareness, and learning about how we operate as people we are able to make fresh choices, see new perspectives, change things, move forward and find our full potential. I believe in peoples capacity to thrive when they are given the right conditions to do so.

I am a UKCP-registered integrative existential psychotherapist with extensive experience in delivering long and short term psychotherapy to individuals. As an existential psychotherapist, I am particularly interested in how we make meaning of the world and of our lives, and how this affects our day to day functioning. Experiencing a crisis of meaning can be a major source of stress and anxiety. If your life starts to feel meaningless to you, you may end up in a hopeless and depressed state. The therapist’s role is to navigate the difficult feelings that can arise in the process and help you find renewed purpose in your life.

Narcissistic Personality (NPD) Counsellors
What type of therapy is best for narcissistic personality disorder?
Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is best treated with talk therapy, which could involve cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, schema therapy, gestalt therapy, or similar approaches. A therapist will help a patient uncover the feelings that may drive their behavior and discover how to engage with themselves and those around them with greater empathy and understanding, fewer demands, and less defensiveness, with the goal of developing a more authentic sense of self that enables healthier relationships.
How do therapists treat NPD?
By developing a strong therapeutic relationship, and continually focusing patients on relationships, community, and connection, a therapist, through talk therapy, may be able to help someone with NPD change. In sessions, a therapist will help an individual achieve relief from their current stressors, including the treatment of co-occurring conditions such as anxiety or depression. A therapist may also help an individual to recognize unhealthy coping mechanisms, learn new ways of interacting with others, and eventually become able to feel and display empathy.
Can a narcissist be cured with therapy?
Therapy can be effective. After a serious setback or great loss, someone with NPD may be forced to recognize that they are not immune to life’s challenges. That can spur feelings of melancholy and depression that lead them to seek professional help. Once an individual decides to seek help, they have already taken a step that the majority of those with NPD never will. Still, people with NPD often quit therapy as they naturally resist feeling vulnerable, being challenged, or admitting to flaws.
How can you get narcissistic personality disorder treatment for someone?
It is notoriously difficult to convince someone with NPD to seek help. With their feelings of superiority, they may be unlikely to recognize or acknowledge that they have a problem, or that their problem is narcissism. Sometimes, they are aware that they are arrogant and that others resent them but they don’t see it as a problem because they are convinced of their superiority. People with NPD have trouble maintaining relationships, but family members and others who do feel close to them, and whose presence they value, may be able to encourage them to seek therapy.
