I work to enable a person to be their natural self, to discover more and more how life wants them to be, even though life may have been full of difficult circumstances which have left their mark, and sometimes even destroying a person’s ability to live effectively and in harmony with themselves.

Do you feel stuck? Do you want to ignite change and welcome healing into your life? Sometimes just talking about things doesn't help. As an integrative psychotherapist and breathwork facilitator I combine various skills and frameworks from my background in psychotherapy, breath and embodiment, psychedelic integration, and interests in IFS, transpersonal & archetypal ways of working to help you on your healing journey. I understand the psyche as having an innate healing-tendency, and all discomfort emerging to be worked through, transmuted and ultimately integrated.

It could be you have recently hit a tough time in your life and need a space to make sense of it. It might be that a relationship has become difficult; with your partner, at work with colleagues, with your children or close family members. You may be suffering symptoms of anxiety and depression and you are finding it harder to function in daily life. It may be that you are transitioning from one stage to another in your life; leaving home, starting a family or approaching retirement and you need somewhere to work through some of the feelings of anxiety, fear and uncertainty that such a change can bring.

Hello, I work close to nature, in a private and quiet garden cabin and my dog Bertie is with me if you would like him to be. I want to support you to be OK with yourself. Some of the following questions we might over the time we work together: What are your needs and are you able to express them? What you would like to change in your life and how would life be different after counselling? How do you see yourself and the world and how do you feel you are seen? I like to work creatively, using therapeutic tools to help you connect to different parts of yourself such as sandtray, two chair work, and IFS; exploring what works for you.

I have been practising as a Counsellor for 15 years, qualifying with a MSc (Hons). I am registered with BACP. I developed my practice whilst working in Inner City London, for the NHS in a large health centre alongside the mental health team. I am now in private practice. I have developed a creative approach to my work over the years, as I have a Jungian approach with a broad knowledge of integrated counselling styles. I see clients as people with problems and not just the labels. I am aware that the first step in seeking counselling can seem daunting. If you wish to talk, I am here.

Sometimes it’s difficult to know where you can turn to talk through family issues and get some help. Often those closest to you are very involved themselves. Or you don’t want to worry them. It may be that you don’t know where to turn. I am a highly experienced Child Psychotherapist. I offer therapy and mental health support for children and young people and consultation to the people who care for them. Therapy provides a safe space to explore issues that might be troubling someone, be it anxiety, stress and unhappiness; separation and loss; worries about school; gender and sexuality; low self esteem or any number of other things.

If you've got problems, I can help.. As a therapist I am happiest when I am genuinely able to make a difference to someone and help them feel better. I have had a great deal of experience of working with many different people, each one of them with their own unique story, and their own way of seeing the world, each one of them also with the problems that sometimes arise for all of us as human beings trying to live the best we can. Maybe you feel anxious and don't know why? Perhaps you've had things happen that are still affecting you?

Dissociative Disorders (DID) Counsellors

How does therapy for dissociative disorders work?

Dissociation may be triggered by stress or other upsetting circumstances, and therapy can address the traumatic events at the core of an individual’s dissociation. Understanding why a person may dissociate can help the therapist and the individual come up with alternative methods of coping. A person with a dissociative disorder may get stuck on negative thinking, for example, and treatment like cognitive behavioural therapy is a gold standard for breaking such thinking. And dialectical behaviour therapy, for example, can help a person manage their anguish through better emotion regulation.

Which therapies are best for dissociative disorders?

Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioural, dialectical behaviour, psychodynamic, schema therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioural and dialectical behaviour therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful memories and past traumas. These therapies work to integrate an individual's different identities into one person.

Are there specific medications for dissociation?

There are no specific medications prescribed for dissociative disorders. However, psychosis, depression, anxiety, and/or panic often co-occur in dissociative disorders. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for any accompanying symptom which may include antipsychotics, antidepressants, or anti-anxiety drugs.

How often and how long are therapy sessions?

Like any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. There are still other patients, especially those who have co-occurring conditions like depression and anxiety, who may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months.
