Many of my clients come to me feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to express what’s going on inside. You might be navigating anxiety, stress, burnout, relationship patterns, or long‑standing emotional struggles. Some people I work with are exploring neurodivergence, including autism, or simply want a space where they don’t have to mask or push themselves to communicate in ways that feel draining. Whatever brings you here, you’re welcome.

You might be feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or like something just isn’t right, even if you can’t put your finger on it. Maybe you’re exhausted from relationships that leave you feeling unseen, or you find yourself constantly overthinking, people-pleasing, or doubting your own needs. I work with people who are ready to understand themselves on a deeper level, even if that feels scary at first. My clients often want to break old patterns, build self-trust, and start showing up in their lives in a way that feels more true to who they are. You don’t need to have it all figured out, just a willingness to be curious and honest.

Are you feeling overwhelmed by physical or mental health problems or weight? Does your body or mind feel out of your control? Perhaps you've been diagnosed with a new condition or can't get your head round an existing one? Are any of these issues impacting on your emotions or relationships with others? I can help. I value supporting people with finding their own path, standing out from the crowd, building connection and relationships. I am not a fixer and I don't have all the answers, although I know that I am OK to sit with people in chaos. I strongly believe people can be empowered to find their own way, on their own terms.

Sometimes life feels harder than it should. I work with adults who feel overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, disconnected from themselves, or simply not quite like they used to. Many people come to me when overthinking is taking over, routines feel hard to maintain, life pressures are building up, or they’re navigating change, caregiving, pain, or uncertainty. Some people are looking for something more practical or accessible than traditional therapy, while others want support alongside it. Together, we focus on making things feel lighter, clearer, healthier, and more manageable — in ways that fit real life.

Life has a way of challenging us beyond belief sometimes, especially currently. Counselling can provide a safe space to process some of these challenges. I have experience of supporting people with issues ranging from Hate Crime to Domestic Abuse. As a disabled mixed-race mother, I have been through a lot in life, even had to access counselling myself occasionally. I have an interest in counselling disabled people coming to terms with factors such as culture and race; as I do believe counselling should be made accessible for all. So, I aim to provide a non-judgemental and culturally sensitive space at all times.

Based at Durham Wellness Space in Coxhoe, I provide a warm, safe, and confidential space where children and young people (ages 4–18) can explore their experiences at their own pace. I am fully qualified, having completed my clinical training on a BACP Accredited course at the Northern Guild.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
