I work with adults and young people.
Seeking counselling for any reason can seem daunting. I offer a confidential and safe space, where you can feel listened to, seen and understood. Sometimes it can feel overwhelming trying to cope with personal problems alone. Hopefully, I can provide you with the support that you need and to look at whatever is preventing you from reaching your potential.

As a Counselling Psychologist, registered with the HCPC, I recognise that there is not one approach to therapy that will suit everyone. Taking the first step to access therapy can be a nerve-wracking process. The most important indicator of therapeutic success is the relationship between client and therapist so do get in touch for a free phone consultation to see if I am the right therapist for you.

Within a non-judgemental, adult-to- adult therapeutic relationship, I will encourage you to practice self-acceptance and to examine issues and feelings you may have been avoiding for too long.
In my experience, we often come to therapy when we feel stuck in a way of living which has become increasingly difficult and painful to sustain. Perhaps you feel life is simply surviving not thriving; that relationships have become a prison or a battlefield; that you are lost, without purpose or passion; that the future seems more scary than exciting? If any of this resonates with you, my existential approach will help you explore and process any trauma in your past; pain in the present and anxiety about the future. Helping to bring the 'real you' out of hiding and find a more joyful, peaceful and authentic way of living.

I support adults with stress, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and trauma, and adapt therapy where helpful for autistic or ADHD traits.
Perhaps you've been struggling for a while — probably longer than you might admit. You may be caught in cycles of anxiety that feel impossible to break: constant worry, panic attacks, intrusive thoughts, or compulsive behaviours. Perhaps you're living with the aftermath of trauma or loss that still affects you today. Or you're exhausted by low mood and self-doubt that gets in the way of the life. It’s not easy managing alone. I have over 5 years NHS experience helping people better understand their thoughts and what's keeping them stuck, and to learn practical tools to change. Whatever your goals, we can walk the journey together.

Perhaps you are navigating the emotional challenges of pregnancy or new parenthood, or carrying difficult experiences from the past that still affect you today. You have tried to cope alone. You want something structured and evidence-based - not just to talk, but to understand what is keeping you stuck and learn practical tools to change it. You are ready to do the work.

Finding your way here takes courage. Whether it was a moment of crisis, a quiet sense that something isn't right, or simply a feeling that you deserve more from life. Life can shake us in ways we never expected. Anxiety, grief, anger, emptiness, or a disconnection from the life force that makes us feel alive. Sometimes what we experience isn't just one feeling, but many, pulling in different directions, often at the same time. Parts of us that long to be seen, others that protect, withdraw, or fight. When these parts are in conflict or feel disconnected from each other, life can feel fragmented.

In my practice I have worked with adults of all ages experiencing depression, anxiety, substance misuse, self-harm and childhood trauma.
I am a trainee psychotherapist with a private practice in Bath. I offer low cost, affordable and open-ended therapy, I provide a safe space to explore your difficulties in a non-judgmental and collaborative way. There may be many different reasons why you turn to therapy, perhaps you are finding yourself repeating unhelpful patterns of behaviour and need some company on the journey, someone who can facilitate the process of creating new, helpful and positive patterns. As Maya Angelou says “stepping on to a brand new path is difficult” but you do not have to go through this alone.

Currently Accepting New Clients. Not everything that brings someone to therapy arrives with a clear name. Sometimes it’s a loss or a turning point; sometimes it’s quieter—an ache, a restlessness, a sense of disconnection. However it appears, I see therapy as a place to pause and pay attention—not to fix, but to meet experience more closely and listen to what it asks.

As a psychologist, I have been trained in a range of therapies and work integrating techniques from psychodynamic therapy, CBT, and systemic therapy to co-create a bespoke therapy that meets your unique needs. For some, this might mean exploring how past experiences continue to shape present feelings and behaviours, while for others it could involve breaking cycles of unhelpful thinking, managing difficult emotions, or finding new ways to strengthen relationships. My aim is to create a way of working that is tailored to you and helps you move towards greater self-awareness, resilience, and a sense of ease in everyday life.

FAQ - About Adult Counselling
Why should adults see a therapist?
Adults may benefit from therapy for a wide range of reasons—whether it’s managing symptoms of a diagnosed mental health condition like anxiety or depression, navigating life transitions, coping with grief or trauma, or simply seeking support during a challenging life period. Many adults find that therapy helps them build healthier coping skills and better process their emotions, which may lead to better relationships and reduced stress. It’s important to note that, unlike psychiatrists or primary care physicians, therapists do not prescribe psychiatric medication. However, they will often work alongside prescribing clinicians to ensure coordinated care and can provide behavioural therapy as an important addition to psychiatric medication. Mental health concerns can look different in adulthood than in childhood or adolescence, so finding a therapist with expertise working with adult clients is important. Conditions like major depressive disorder (MDD), generalised anxiety disorder (GAD), bipolar disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for instance, may present or resurface differently in adulthood than in childhood or adolescence. Adult-specific stressors, such as job strain, caregiving responsibilities, relationship challenges, financial stress, or identity transitions, can also influence the onset and type of symptoms an individual experiences. Adult-focused therapists, therefore, are trained to understand these complexities and tailor care accordingly.

How do I know if a therapist is the right fit for me?
When seeking care, it’s important to understand a therapist’s treatment specialties and their overall approach to treatment . Some therapists focus on common adult conditions like anxiety or depression, while others specialize in areas such as trauma, substance use disorders, or obsessive-compulsive disorder. It’s also important to consider a therapist’s training when seeking care. Therapists in the UK hold various credentials depending on their training and regional requirements. Counsellors and Psychotherapists registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) receive the designation MBACP and their qualifications and practice are overseen by BACP. Many Psychologists registered with the British Psychological Society receive the title of Chartered Psychologist (CPsychol), signifying that they have completed postgraduate training and supervised practice. All of these professionals can provide talk therapy but do not prescribe medication. When searching for a therapist, consider their credentials and training background to ensure a good fit.

How do I find a therapist who sees adults?
Psychology Today’s online directory allows you to search specifically for therapists who work with adults. Each provider profile includes key information such as clinical specialties, therapeutic approaches, licensure, accepted insurance plans, languages spoken, and session fees. Reviewing these details can help you determine whether a particular provider aligns with your needs and can indicate whether they are a good match for adult clients.
