My name is Liz and I am an experienced, integrative counsellor, supervisor and lecturer. I am very personable and use humour and warmth with all my clients. I will never promise to solve my clients problems but I do promise to work in a respectful and ethical way, helping clients move through what is often the most difficult time in their life. This may be a solution focussed approach or a more person centred one, working delicately with the client's feelings.

Therapy with warmth, humour, and a brew.
A warm drink can be comforting, but it doesn’t magically fix the overwhelm, the masking, the relationship patterns, or the weight of old wounds. What it CAN do is help us slow down, breathe, and begin to explore things together at your pace.
I work in a deeply person‑centred, trauma-informed and collaborative way, often with a cup of tea in hand; creating a space where you can show up exactly as you are.
I have completed ADHD‑Certified Clinical Services Provider (ADHD‑CCSP) Training, and I’m currently undertaking Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist (ASDCS) training.

I currently work with Young Adults, Teenagers and Children (8+). I like to work together collaboratively in a way that allows empowerment and feels right for you. It is through the therapeutic relationship that new understanding, greater awareness, and therapeutic growth is experienced. I provide 1 to 1 talking therapy in person and outdoor walk and talk therapy in nature. I also provide online therapy by zoom. Working online offers greater accessibility if you are very busy or have physical limitations. It also provides a more private and comfortable experience as in person therapy can sometimes feel too much.

During sessions we may predominantly talk through things, or we may incorporate other forms of expression like art, poetry, or music to access and help to incorporate your emotional and logical self.
I offer support for those who feel squeezed out of traditional spaces or have fallen through the gaps in the system. It's time to reclaim your life.
I specialise in working with: LGBTQIA+ adults, neurodivergent adults, eating disorders, supporters/families of above.
You may want to come to me to talk about struggles around sexuality, gender or relationships or you may want to talk to me about something else safe in the knowledge that I’m not going to try to pin your struggles down to an aspect of your identity that you’re perfectly comfortable with (as many people have reported with non-queer therapists).

Has a recent or past negative experience left you feeling lost or stuck? Maybe you’ve tried to just get on with life but inside you still feel broken, replaying events in your mind and asking yourself why or how this happened. Perhaps you know what happened to you was traumatic or maybe you’ve told yourself it “wasn’t that bad”. Some days you seem to feel all the emotions all at once, and other days you feel nothing at all. Other people simply don’t understand, which may leave you feeling alone and like you don’t matter. You are not alone and you do matter. You deserve freedom and peace from your past experiences.

With experience both as a psychotherapist-in-training and client, I regard trust and a safe environment to work through difficulties, identify and express personal needs as high priorities. I therefore offer an empathic, non-judgmental and containing space and work openly with whatever arises from the client's life as well as what arises in the room in a gently challenging manner in order to encourage personal growth. I am in the final stages of a seven year psychotherapy training and use psychodrama and creative approaches in my work and am committed to help people access the often dormant creativity in their lives.

I’m an Art Psychotherapist and documentary photographer, working with adults and young people to create a calm, thoughtful space where you can slow down and begin to make sense of what you’re carrying.
My approach is gentle and led by you. I take time to get to know you, creating a space where you feel seen and heard. We might talk, sit with things quietly, or use art materials to explore what feels difficult to put into words. You don’t need any artistic experience—just a willingness to show up as you are.

I aim to provide a safe, warm, and non-judgmental space for clients to express and explore any difficulties they might be experiencing. I believe the therapeutic rapport between the therapist and client to be a vehicle for transformation and change. I am very client lead in my work and strive to collaboratively work with clients to tailor my approach to best suit what they require from me. Not one size fits all and no one approach is suited for all clients. I believe this outlook encourages clients fostering their individuality and uniqueness. I hope to help clients to feel empowered, confident, and reconnected with themselves.

Loneliness isn't always about being alone.
Sometimes it's having people in your life but not feeling connected to them. Sometimes it's feeling that nobody really understands what your experience is like. Sometimes it's not having many people to turn to at all.
Over time, loneliness can become more than a feeling. It can become a way of moving through the world. You stop expecting to be understood. You carry things by yourself. You begin to wonder whether connection is something other people seem to find more easily.

How does art therapy work?
The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.
Does art therapy help with trauma?
Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.
How long does art therapy last?
The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.
What are the limitations of art therapy?
Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioural therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
