Within the practice I can help if you require; one to one therapy, for various aspects of mental health, support through bereavement, need family support, help with parenting or CAMHS.
I believe that one of the keys to success through therapy, is building a therapeutic relationship with my clients. And, as I understand that one type of therapy does not suit all, my integrative approach, means client consultations are tailored to their needs now, enabling them to get the most from every session.

My own experience of therapy inspired me to become a psychotherapist. Through therapy, I gained a deeper understanding of how early experiences can shape our relationships, emotions and sense of self. This journey helped me move beyond patterns that had left me feeling stuck and develop a more fulfilling way of living. As a therapist, I offer a safe, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can explore your difficulties, gain insight and work towards meaningful and lasting change. If you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck or struggling to move forward, I invite you to get in touch.

If you are finding life difficult, or struggling to understand or change the way you feel, talking to somebody can really help. Sometimes reaching out is the best thing you can do, and it can really help you put things into perspective and learn new ways of coping and dealing with the difficulties in your life. I have linked an example of how I work in this video: https://youtu.be/g4YMqJdPoj0

I have many years experience as a counsellor, I've done a lot of further training and I have personal experience of anxiety, body images issues, grief, parenting issues and working with young people.
It is likely you are looking for support at a difficult time. I'm passionate about helping you if you have any kind of body image issues or anxiety. I also understand the need for supporting families in difficult times. I offer a warm therapeutic relationship which is thoughtfully tailored to your needs. I believe that therapy should be sensitive and boldly creative. I often include a variety of experiences into therapy sessions: things that I have found helpful myself. We all want to have a balance in our lives and to learn to calm the sometimes stormy waters of our mind. I hope to share ways of learning to do this with you.

You might be a parent who is reading this because your child is having a hard time and you aren't sure where to turn.
Therapy is not one-size-fits-all. I tailor my approach to the needs of my clients. In addition to talk therapy, I often work with the creative arts, play, metaphor, and mindfulness as this can help us to access feelings that words alone fail to express. My practice is LGBTQ+ affirming and centres an awareness of intersectionality.

Parenting Counsellors
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
