You might be unhappily confused or have difficult and dark feelings about issues and arrangements in your self and your life. You imagine there must be a way out of your difficulty or perhaps wish to coexist peacefully with it. Things are just not getting better. Many of us have difficulty working out ways of sorting out and resolving such difficulties alone. Perhaps gaining insight by working with a skilled 'other person' could help you.

Life doesn’t always go the way we expect, and it can be hard to make sense of things on your own. I offer a space where you can talk openly, without feeling judged or rushed. People come to me for many reasons, feeling stuck, overwhelmed, struggling in relationships, or wanting to understand themselves better. I have a particular interest in behaviour patterns, family dynamics, and trauma, and how these shape the way we think, feel, and relate to others. Together, we can make sense of what’s going on and find a way forward that feels right for you

Finding life a little full on right now - often feeling like there's 'a lot going on' - more stressful and overwhelming than you are comfortable with? Stress and anxiety are probably starting to run high and you might be feeling down or simply "stuck". Perhaps your confidence and self esteem have taken a hit and you are struggling to see a way forward. If this resonates you do not need to experience this alone. I can help. Working with a person-centred approach, I can offer non judgmental support, empathy and understanding - helping you find your answers to moving forward with confidence and positivity.

I'm trauma informed and have done a lot of work with trauma and sexual violence.
Hello, I'm Lizzie! I'm ready to work with you to explore whatever you need. If we're being honest, life can be hard and talking to someone who truly hears you and accepts you as you are can really help with that. As a person-centred counsellor, I believe that noone knows yourself and your needs better than you do and so work with you in a non-directive, collaborative way.

CBT Therapy for Perfectionism, Pressure, and High Self-Expectations. We commonly work with people who feel constantly switched “on”. People who appear to be coping well externally but feel internally driven, mentally overloaded, responsible, and holding themselves to high standards. They may be finding that the usual ways of coping are no longer working as well as they once did. Alongside this specialist focus, we also support adults whose difficulties are beginning to affect daily functioning, work, or relationships. You can learn how to prioritise a lot of responsibility in a way that does not compromise success.

I have experience working with trauma in a charity, specialising in supporting people who have experienced domestic abuse.
Are you struggling with anxiety, trauma, or feeling constantly on edge? I offer a calm, supportive space to help you make sense of anxiety and feel more grounded. Anxiety is often linked to past trauma, even when not obvious, leaving you overwhelmed, in survival mode, or stuck in patterns that feel hard to change. It can affect self-esteem, increase self-doubt, and lead to sadness or unhelpful coping strategies. These are understandable responses, not personal failings. Together we gently explore what you’re experiencing at your pace, helping you understand the impact of past experiences and move toward feeling more grounded and

Domestic Abuse Counsellors
What are the most effective ways to recover from domestic abuse?
Leaving an abusive relationship requires tremendous courage, so survivors in treatment should recognise that they have already completed the most important step. Still, the trauma of physical or emotional abuse can be difficult to process and overcome. Therapy can help survivors process trauma, grief, and difficult emotions, treat relevant mental health symptoms, and create a new framework for boundaries and relationships in the future. For some, support groups can also be an invaluable outlet for healing.

When should an individual seek help for domestic abuse?
Victims of intimate partner violence should seek help immediately. It can take substantial time, planning, energy, and courage to leave an abusive relationship, but starting the process—by seeking therapy, calling the domestic violence hotline, or simply confiding in a loved one—will help them get there. Those who have left abusive relationships but haven’t sought treatment can also greatly benefit from therapy to process and heal from the experience.

What are the consequences of staying in an abusive relationship?
Remaining in an abusive relationship has serious repercussions. In addition to the ongoing threat of physical danger and emotional abuse, research shows that intimate partner violence is associated with a range of mental health disorders including depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and substance abuse. Therefore it’s important for individuals in an abusive relationship to seek help as soon as possible.

How can you get domestic abuse treatment for someone else?
It can be very complicated to identify and leave an abusive relationship; barriers include the threat of violence, financial instability, and family pressures. Those concerned about a loved one in an abusive relationship should talk to them about the situation, provide them with resources such as the domestic violence hotline, and introduce the idea of seeing a therapist due to their concern for the person’s safety and well-being.
