My have helped clients with general life issues, parental legacies, bullying, current and historic loss & grief, stress and anxiety; self-harm and eating disorders, all types of domestic abuse and understanding and moving forward from recent and childhood trauma.
We all need emotional support from time to time in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space. Somewhere to talk about our experiences with a little support. Whatever you are going through, I aim to provide you an opportunity to explore your experiences in a confidential space, at your pace and guided by your own intuition. No one can know or understand you better than yourself, so it is important for you to be in control of your sessions. I will be there with you to help you look into any aspects of your life and experiences you wish to, as and when you are ready to do so. I am a qualified BACP

Do you feel overwhelmed by your feelings? Do they impact on your confidence and day-to-day life? Or perhaps you have experienced painful losses, abuse or traumatic events that are affecting you? Do you have patterns of behaviour that no longer feel beneficial to you? Sometimes we think and act in certain ways that function to protect and preserve us. These have felt necessary in the past, but are no longer useful and can instead impact negatively on our life.

I work with a range of issues such as: anxiety and depression, trauma, self-harm, addiction, relationship and family issues, stress and self-esteem, sexuality and emotional issues, issues with self image.
I work with Adults and Couples. I use Transactional Analysis (TA) as my main theoretical framework; however I integrate TA's humanistic philosophy with its deeper roots in Psychodynamic theory. I am also able to offer a Person Centered and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approach as a way of further supporting and enhancing my client work.

This can help with experiences of trauma, depression, anxiety, and low confidence and self-esteem.
Maybe you can see where you want to be and don't know how to get there, or maybe you just feel totally lost.  Are you finding yourself repeating old patterns, or in habits that you just know aren't helpful, but don't seem to be able to stop? Maybe you're avoiding things in life because it just feels too much. You might understand what the issue is, and why it’s there - and yet you still feel the same. Or is there something you really could do with talking about, but you've been putting it off, or you just aren't sure where to start? You are not alone. I can help - in London, Hertfordshire, and across the UK online.

My clients appreciate my holistic approach to mental health. Their goal is usually to find their authentic selves, to become more self aware and to thrive and find joy and purpose, not just survive and settle for a life that is not working for them. We all want to be seen, heard and understood and that is often at the very heart of Healing.

Or show up in ‘symptoms’ like anxiety, illness, or substance abuse.
I focus on you as a person looking for a way to live meaningfully, not as a diagnosis or a problem. I listen patiently for what matters and keep an open mind for where we might need to go. There's no manual for this kind of work: I aim to stay alive to everything you bring. I want to be active in helping you live a life you want.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
