Being emotionally triggered can cause so much suffering for so many of us. But in the toxic society in which we live, we learn to either push down our pain or, worse still, judge ourselves harshly for having strong emotional reactions. Alternatives to responding to ourselves in this way can be found through learning to relate to our suffering with a compassionate understanding of the factors that have shape our emotional experience.
