I support Adults and Adolescents (age 13+) with a range of issues including anxiety, trauma,
loss
and change.
Everyday life can be difficult in its own way and offer many challenges. Being able to manage the stress and anxiety this brings and our emotional response to situations brings more control, and understanding to our relationships and our self. We can often spend our lives trying to let go of our past or trying to ignore difficult feelings - and the irony is we have to get closer to our feelings in order to make changes and let the past go. By exploring how we feel at a deeper level we can feel more confident, improve self esteem, reduce anxiety, sleep better, hold boundaries, improve communication, relationships and self care.

You may be struggling with a lack of meaning in your life causing feelings of negativity, a traumatic
loss
like
bereavement
or difficulty in letting go of painful childhood memories.
As a warm-hearted, grounded person I bring authenticity to all my therapeutic work. Fundamental to my approach as a therapist is to offer a relationship of equality. Instead of advising you or telling you what to do I create a non-judgmental and trustworthy space to help you explore difficult thoughts, feelings and behaviours. I place emphasis on building a therapeutic relationship, believing it facilitates change to occur and offering myself as a companion accompanying you on your journey, at your own pace, to help you gain clarity and perspective.

Hey there, and salam. If you’re feeling deeply alone or sad, or if you’ve suffered a
loss
that you’re not sure how to process, therapy could help you to heal. I strongly believe that our circumstances do not define us. I believe that Muslims should have access to high quality therapy; safe spaces where we can explore the rich, multi-faceted dialogues we have with ourselves, and ultimately heal. In therapy we work to process the traumas life presents to us, but more importantly, find the core of who we are.

If you are reading this there is a chance that you (or someone you know) may be experiencing some emotional difficulties. In my personal experience, counselling and psychotherapy can help with a wide range of problems related to life and living. Many of us don't know why we feel unhappy, lacking in confidence or generally anxious. Some experience anxiety in relation to situations where other people seem to cope without a problem. Sitting down with a trained therapist can help alleviate distress as well as uncover the self-defeating patterns we may have stumbled into as a consequence of life's events.

We all encounter challenging times and transitions in life: the
loss
of loved ones, relationship breakdowns, stress at work and health problems. These can often trigger childhood traumas, leading to bad feelings, which might lead us to become disconnected to our self and others. This could then lead to less healthy choices and an inability to hold boundaries. You might want to reconnect with your voice and potency and finds ways of integrating your vulnerability, so that you are more at ease with it and discover your capacity for internal peace, spontaneity and love.

I tend to see individuals when they feel stuck or are facing certain challenges in their lives. People often come with a specific goal or when they are facing a life crisis. However, therapy can be helpful at any point of our lives. It is a safe space to explore parts of ourselves that may have been neglected or forgotten. Issues often worked with: depression, anxiety, work-related stress, sexuality & gender, relationship issues, self-esteem and
bereavement
.

Because you're here, I imagine that things are feeling difficult. Something specific may be on your mind or it might be something more general; you may be overwhelmed with anxious thoughts, depression or a sense that something just isn't quite right. Perhaps you're struggling with relationships, or trying to deal with a
loss
or a trauma in your life. Patterns may keep repeating and you don't know how to change them. At times, we all need extra support; there are lots of reasons why people come in to counselling. I work in an Integrative way, to help you to unpick complex feelings you may have about yourself and the way you live now.

We all have troubling problems at times, be they emotional, personal or work-related. Sometimes these problems can feel overwhelming and we become stressed, anxious and unhappy. This can affect our confidence handling relationships, making decisions and generally, our ability to just cope with the pressures that each day brings. Reaching out to an experienced therapist will enable you to talk openly about your concerns and be listened to without being judged. For many people, this is a profound way of bringing about positive and lasting change.

How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
