I work collaboratively, blending talking therapy with gentle somatic awareness to explore how stress or trauma shows up in your body.
Are you experiencing the effects of trauma, relational abuse, eating/body/lifestyle-related difficulties or neurodivergent overwhelm? These issues are my core specialisms, however I also support clients in creative and high‑pressure roles who are navigating burnout, identity shifts or chronic tension. Many clients come to me feeling stuck, burnt out or carrying long‑term stress as symptoms in their bodies. Some have tried to cope alone through research, journalling or self‑help but nothing has shifted enough. I offer a calm, grounded space where you can slow down, feel understood and begin to make sense of what is happening.

Hi, I'm Caz, I'm a Sheffield-based transpersonal, integrative counsellor. Sometimes life gets tangled: anxiety, stress, burnout, difficult relationships, or big life changes. Sometimes there aren't quite words, just a feeling that something needs listening to. I attune to where you are emotionally. Listening to images, dreams and patterns underneath to hear what is asked for. Integrative means I draw on different approaches to suit you. Transpersonal includes the whole of you, with space for deeper connection. Direct, grounded and collaborative - compassionate and kind, at your pace. If that resonates, I'd love to hear from you

Midlife is an initiation, an awakening. It’s time to finally hear your own voice, honour what you need and make room for yourself. You’ve spent years adapting, meeting expectations and holding things together for everyone else. Now you’re beginning to wonder: what do I want for the rest of this precious life? Perhaps the life you’ve built no longer feels right, yet you’re unsure what needs to change. You’re unsure what you even want. Decisions feel difficult when you’re used to looking outside yourself for reassurance. You want to trust yourself but it can be hard to hear what you need beneath everyone else’s needs and expectations.

I am a somatic informed psychotherapist and therapeutic coach.
I became a therapist because earlier in my life therapy helped me through anxiety and an eating disorder. So I know what it feels like on the other side too! I believe deeply in the therapeutic process and I am living proof that healing and recovery can change your life for the better. Working with me, we will create a space where you can feel totally safe to open up all the issues affecting you, discuss them and explore them and hopefully help you find the clarity and direction for you to move forward in a positive way.

I track autonomic nervous system shifts in real time to bridge regulated clinical psychodynamic depth with cutting-edge neuro- somatic energy psychology.
You cannot think or talk your way out of a nervous system trapped in a survival loop. If you are a high-functioning leader, professional pioneer, or deep feeler, you already know that intellectualising your trauma doesn't heal it. Many of my clients are highly articulate and possess deep insight into their patterns, yet their bodies remain stuck in chronic hypervigilance, sensory burnout, or emotional fatigue. I offer a specialised, clinically grounded sanctuary to move beyond the cognitive mask and safely resolve the complex, layered trauma loops that traditional talking therapy cannot reach.

My ideal clients are people living with PTSD or have experienced complex trauma in their earlier years. This may include single incident trauma, birth trauma, medical trauma, workplace trauma, or experiences that still feel active in the body and nervous system. I also work with complex trauma, which may come from lots of smaller or relational experiences over time and present as relational difficulties, mood swings, low self-worth, chronic tension, emotional overwhelm, or feeling disconnected from yourself. I support clients using EMDR, nervous system regulation and body-based modalities.

Somatic Counsellors
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
