I specialise in working with post traumatic stress and moral injury, including occupational trauma faced by veterans, emergency services and health and social care workers. I have ten years of NHS experience including providing support to hospital staff, many of whom work in high-stress environments, and working with complex post traumatic stress including asylum seeker and refugee populations. This wide range of experience has deepened my understanding of trauma, burnout, and the emotional toll of high-pressure roles, which I bring to my work with professionals.

I use CBT and EMDR to treat people with a variety of mental health conditions, including: depression, low self-esteem, anxiety and worry, panic, health anxiety, social anxiety, OCD, PTSD, Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), stress, imposter syndrome, sleep difficulties and loneliness.
Some workplaces are happy to cover part or all of the costs of therapy sessions as part of an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) or as part of their occupational health referral scheme. I’m happy to work with them to facilitate treatment and can offer a split invoice if your workplace are able to cover some of the session fee.

Many people seek therapy when they are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from themselves and their lives. You may be looking for a different approach after trying to manage on your own or finding that previous therapy hasn’t quite felt like the right fit. You might find yourself wanting space to think more clearly, to make sense of things, or to reconnect with what feels important. You might be curious about a more experiential and embodied way of working therapeutically. I offer outdoor therapy in natural spaces across East Yorkshire, where we work together in a living environment rather than inside a therapy room.

Are you looking for a neurodivergent therapist? I have a special interest in working with late diagnosed neurodivergent adults (Autism/ADHD/AuDHD) or if you are questioning your neurodivergent identity. From my own lived experience, I strongly relate to people who have felt misunderstood and experienced difficulties with fitting in with others. You may be hiding your struggles behind a mask which can be exhausting to maintain in the long term. Now might be the time to slow down and reconnect with your authentic self.

Your 20s and 30s are often framed as “the best years of your life”. It’s a time of lots of change, self-discovery and forging your own path, but it comes with so many pressures and expectations. Perhaps you’re feeling stuck or lost, and lacking purpose and direction because you don’t know who you really are or what you want out of life. Maybe you’re struggling with difficult feelings, or have noticed there are unhealthy patterns playing out in your relationships. You might want to learn how to set and maintain new boundaries, communicate more effectively, and build your self-esteem. If any of this resonates for you, I can help.

Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, panic, low mood, self‑esteem difficulties, relationship concerns, or the impact of trauma and PTSD, you don’t have to navigate it alone.
To support you effectively, I draw on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, and EMDR. These approaches help us understand how your difficulties developed and, more importantly, how to move forward. Sometimes one method is the best fit; often, a gentle blend works beautifully. The process is always tailored to you.

I understand how daunting the idea of therapy can be. It takes great courage to take that first step to reach out and ask for help. I believe that the therapeutic journey can be an amazing, enriching, life-changing experience which helps us to make sense of ourselves, identify blocks to change and start to make small changes that can make a big difference to our life. No issue is "too small" or "unimportant". So, whatever you are struggling with, talking really can help.

Anxiety Counsellors
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
