I worked in busy NHS psychology services for over 20 years with hundreds of clients with a range of difficulties including depression, anxiety, panic, OCD, sexual health and addiction.
Sometimes we feel that our life is not a life well-lived. Many of us feel like we are surviving instead of thriving. Our mental health plays a big role here. It shapes our experience of life.

I am a qualified and experienced psychotherapist and counsellor working in private practice with individuals, groups, and couples. I have worked in several settings including the NHS, Palliative Care, and the Ministry of Justice. People seek out psychotherapy for many different reasons, often though to find some relief from an emotional pain. Psychotherapy and counselling are methods of talking therapies that are useful in understanding difficulties in how you think and feel in relation to yourself, the world, and others.

I offer Counselling, Psychotherapy and CBT to clients aged 16 plus from safe, confidential and comfortable therapy rooms in Henley on Thames. I have a very warm, empathic and supportive counselling style. As an integrative therapist I can draw on a number of techniques in order to meet my clients wherever they may be. Counselling often focuses on a specific issue or relationship and how it is affecting us in the present. Psychotherapy works at a much deeper level to explore unresolved experiences from our past and help us learn how they impact our behaviours and relationships in the present, often in limiting ways.

I work with a range of mental health problems including PTSD, OCD, social anxiety and phobias.
I offer individual therapy sessions either in person in my Henley-on-Thames clinic, or online. We would together develop a treatment plan to better understand why you are feeling this way, what is keeping these difficulties going, and what strategies could lead to positive change.

Hello and Welcome, Life can indeed be difficult at times. Many are struggling with mental health in ways that are no longer manageable. Our past and present hurts, our unprocessed feelings can rise to the surface. We find ourselves thinking, feeling and acting in ways that do not reflect who we want to be. Some of us have Grief, Trauma or Addiction that we just can’t seem to work through. As a Senior Accredited Psychotherapist with a PHD(Hon), Master Degree and EMDR(Accredited), I've seen thousands come through my door, with various presenting issues and undergo genuine transformation, healing and leave with hope for the future.

Are you struggling with your or your child’s mental well-being? Are you experiencing difficulties in your relationships? You’re not alone — and things can get better. You might be feeling low, anxious, or overwhelmed. Perhaps you’re worried about your child and don’t know where to turn. Maybe past experiences — such as trauma or difficult relationships — are still affecting how you feel day to day. You may be struggling with low self-worth, constant worry, or urges to self-harm. These feelings can be confusing, exhausting, and leave you feeling stuck. Whatever you’re going through, you don’t have to face it alone.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Counsellors

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine, fluoxetine, and sertraline, among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
