I work with individuals and couples in private practice, and with groups within the NHS Complex Needs and Personality Disorder unit.
You may be here because you’re looking for someone you can truly talk to — someone who will listen with empathy, curiosity, and respect. My role as a therapist is to offer a space where you feel safe and supported as we explore current challenges, past experiences, or beliefs about yourself and the world that may hold you back from living a more fulfilling life. A clear picture of what exactly troubles you isn't always necessary — only to know that you desire change. Together, we can develop a deeper understanding of what’s happening for you and explore how therapy might support your growth, healing, and potential.

My name is Sarah, and I work both online and in person in Woodley, Henley, and throughout Berkshire. Anxiety, bereavement, and major life changes can leave us feeling lost, numb, and unable to function in everyday life. Together, we can work at your own pace to explore unhelpful patterns and aim to build a greater understanding of yourself. When we feel overwhelmed with feelings, we might not want to bother our loved ones. Starting to talk can feel like a weight has been lifted and is the first step toward healing. I am here to make this a safe journey where you will grow and find peace of mind.

Do you often put others' needs before your own? Do you think all the time and have difficulty switching your mind off? Do you care deeply, pick up others emotions, are very emotional and also naturally empathic? <> If this sounds like you, you might be a highly sensitive person (HSP). 1 in 5 of all people have this scientifically researched but little known, inherited trait. It can be tough being an HSP in a largely non-sensitive world. I support HSP to truly flourish; to find themselves and their purpose, at home, in relationships and at work.

Are you struggling with your own emotional wellbeing, worried about your teenager, or concerned about your child? Are you noticing changes in mood, behaviour, or confidence and feeling unsure how best to help? You are not alone — and things can get better. You may be feeling anxious, low, overwhelmed, or stuck. Perhaps you are a parent trying to support a child or young person who is struggling, or a teenager finding life, relationships, or school hard to manage. Past experiences, including trauma, bullying, or difficult relationships, may still be affecting how you or your family feel day to day.

We all experience times of difficulty in our lives, when events or relationships feel overwhelming or we feel a loss of direction or purpose. Talking to a trained professional can help make sense of these challenges and offer a way forward. I provide a safe and confidential space to reflect and gain fresh perspectives. As a Gestalt therapist, I focus on how your experiences affect your life now. I also work with EMDR and trauma-informed approaches, which can help process distressing or traumatic experiences and reduce their ongoing impact. Together, we can work towards greater understanding, choice, and a fuller way of living.

Marriage Counselling Counsellors
How does marriage counseling work?
Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.

How long does marriage counseling typically last?
Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.

Is marriage counseling effective?
Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.

Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?
Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
